Seeing the enemy's heads and arms grow again, the bears and monkeys are enraged. The fool does not die though his arms and heads are cut, and they rush upon him. Vālī's son, Hanumān, Nala, Nīla, the monkey-king, Dvivida the strong, hurl trees and mountains, and Rāvaṇa strikes them with the very hills and trees. Some tear his body with their claws, some kick him and run, and Nala and Nīla climb on his heads and tear his foreheads with their nails. Seeing blood, he feels great grief and stretches out his arms to catch them, but they cannot be held and move about his hands like a pair of bees in a lotus-bed. Leaping, he catches the two and dashes them down, and they run away with twisted arms. He takes up ten bows again and wounds the monkeys with arrows, makes Hanumān and the rest faint, and seeing nightfall rejoices. Seeing the monkey heroes faint, Jāmbavān runs up, steady in battle, and with bears holding trees and mountains begins to strike him with challenges. Rāvaṇa grows angry, seizes some by the feet and dashes the warriors down. Seeing the havoc to his side, the king of bears kicks him on the chest in anger. The terrible blow makes Rāvaṇa fall from his chariot; the king of bears seizes him with twenty hands, like bees spending the night in lotus-flowers. Seeing Rāvaṇa faint, he kicks him again and goes to the Lord. Knowing it is night, the charioteer puts him in the chariot and sets about caring for him. When the faint passed, the bears and monkeys came to the Lord, and the night-rangers surrounded Rāvaṇa in great fear.शत्रु के सिर और भुजाएँ फिर बढ़ते देखकर भालू-वानरों को बहुत क्रोध हुआ। मूर्ख रावण भुजाओं और सिरों के कटने पर भी नहीं मरता, इसलिए वे क्रोध से दौड़े। बालि का पुत्र, हनुमान, नल, नील, वानरराज और बलशाली द्विविद पेड़ और पर्वत से प्रहार करते हैं, और रावण उन्हीं पर्वतों और पेड़ों से वानरों को मारता है। कोई नाखूनों से उसका शरीर चीरते हैं, कोई लात खाकर भागते हैं, और नल-नील उसके सिरों पर चढ़कर नाखूनों से उसके मस्तक चीरने लगे। रक्त देखकर रावण के हृदय में बहुत विषाद होता है; उन्हें पकड़ने को भुजा फैलाता है, पर वे हाथों पर घूमते हैं, जैसे कमलवन में दो भौंरे। फिर कूदकर वह दोनों को पकड़ता है और धरती पर पटकता है, और वे भुजाएँ मरोड़कर भागते हैं। फिर क्रोध से दस धनुष हाथ में ले बाणों से वानरों को घायल करता है, हनुमान आदि वानरों को मूर्छित करके और रात्रि का प्रदोष पाकर हर्षित होता है। सब वानर वीरों को मूर्छित देखकर रणधीर जाम्बवान दौड़ते हैं, भालू पर्वत और पेड़ लेकर ललकार-ललकारकर मारने लगे। बलवान रावण क्रुद्ध हुआ और पैर पकड़कर अनेक योद्धाओं को पटकने लगा। भालुओं के राजा ने अपने दल का नाश देखकर क्रोध से उसकी छाती के बीच लात मारी। छाती में लात की प्रचंड चोट लगते ही रावण व्याकुल होकर रथ से धरती पर गिर पड़ा; भालुराज ने बीसों हाथ पकड़ लिए, मानो कमलों में रात को भौंरे बसे हों। उसे मूर्छित देखकर फिर पैर से मारकर वे प्रभु के पास गए। रात जानकर सारथी ने उसे रथ में डाला और उसे सँभालने का यत्न करने लगा। मूर्छा टूटने पर सब भालू-वानर प्रभु के पास आए, और राक्षस बड़े भय से रावण को घेरे रहे।

Vālī's son, Hanumān, Nala, Nīla, the monkey-king, and strong Dvivida struck him with trees and mountains; and Rāvaṇa seized those same hills and trees and struck the monkeys with them.

कोई नाखूनों से शत्रु का शरीर चीरते, कोई लात मारकर भाग जाते। तब नल और नील उसके सिरों पर चढ़ गए और नाखूनों से उसके मस्तक चीरने लगे।
Some tore at the enemy's body with their claws, some kicked him and ran off. Then Nala and Nīla climbed onto his heads and began to tear at his foreheads with their nails.

४4रुधिर देखि बिषाद उर भारी। तिन्हहि धरन कहुँ भुजा पसारी ॥गहे न जाहिं करन्हि पर फिरहीं। जनु जुग मधुप कमल बन चरहीं ॥

रक्त देखकर रावण के हृदय में बड़ा विषाद हुआ और उसने उन्हें पकड़ने को भुजा फैलाई। वे पकड़े नहीं जाते थे और हाथों पर फिरते थे, जैसे कमल-वन में दो भौंरे विचर रहे हों।
Seeing blood, he felt great sorrow in his heart and stretched out his arm to catch them. They could not be caught and moved about on his hands, like a pair of bees wandering in a lotus-bed.

Leaping, he seized the two again, and dashed them to the ground; they ran off with twisted arms. Then in anger he took up ten bows and wounded the monkeys with his arrows.

हनुमान आदि वानरों को मूर्छित करके रावण संध्या का समय पाकर हर्षित हुआ। सब वानर वीरों को मूर्छित देखकर रणधीर जाम्बवान दौड़े।
Having made Hanumān and the others faint, Rāvaṇa rejoiced to find the evening. Seeing all the monkey heroes faint, the steady fighter Jāmbavān ran up.

७7संग भालु भूधर तरु धारी। मारन लगे पचारि पचारी ॥भयउ क्रुद्ध रावन बलवाना। गहि पद महि पटकइ भट नाना ॥

भालू पर्वत और पेड़ लेकर उसे ललकार-ललकारकर मारने लगे। बलवान रावण क्रुद्ध हुआ और पैर पकड़कर अनेक योद्धाओं को धरती पर पटकने लगा।
With bears holding mountains and trees, they began to strike him, challenging again and again. Mighty Rāvaṇa grew angry, took them by the feet and dashed many warriors to the ground.

Seeing the slaughter of his own side, the king of bears was angry and kicked him in the middle of the chest.

The terrible blow struck his chest and he fell from his chariot to the ground, helpless. The king of bears took hold of all twenty arms, like bees spending the night in lotus-flowers. Seeing him faint, he kicked him again and went to the Lord. Knowing it was night, the charioteer put him in the chariot and set to tending him.

दोहा ९८दोहा 98मुरुछा बिगत भालु कपि सब आए प्रभु पास।निसिचर सकल रावनहि घेरि रहे अति त्रास ॥ ९८ ॥
