राम की भयानक धनुष-ध्वनि
Rāvaṇa, having spoken harsh words, begins to loose arrows like thunderbolts, and shafts of many shapes fly and fill the directions and sky. Raghubīra looses a fire arrow and in a moment the night-ranger's arrows burn up. Angrily Rāvaṇa hurls a fierce spear and the Lord turns it back along with an arrow. He hurls crores of discs and tridents, and the Lord cuts them away without effort; his arrows are fruitless, like the plans of the wicked. Then Rāvaṇa kills Rāma's charioteer with a hundred arrows; he falls crying 'Victory to Rāma', and by Rāma's grace is raised up, and then the Lord feels great anger. When Raghupati is angry and the arrows rattle in the quiver, the sound of the bow is so terrible that all the ogres are swallowed up by the wind of dread; Mandodarī's heart trembles, the tortoise and mountains shake and the elephants of the quarters scream, biting the earth with their tusks. The gods laugh, watching the show. Having spoken ill words, Rāvaṇa, enraged, began to loose arrows like thunderbolts. Shafts of many shapes flew and covered the directions between, the sky and the earth.

He hurled crores of discs and tridents, and the Lord cut them off without effort. How did Rāvaṇa's arrows fail? As all the plans of a wicked man fail.

तब उसने सौ बाणों से सारथी को मारा; वह धरती पर गिरा और 'जय राम' पुकारने लगा। राम ने कृपा करके सारथी को उठाया; तब प्रभु को बहुत क्रोध हुआ।
Then with a hundred arrows he killed the charioteer, who fell to the ground crying 'Victory to Rāma.' By his grace Rāma raised the charioteer up; then the Lord felt great anger.

Raghupati grew angry for the fight, and the arrows rattled in the quiver. Hearing the dreadful twang of the bow, all the man-eaters were swallowed by the wind. Mandodarī's heart shook, the tortoise and mountains trembled, and the elephants of the quarters screamed, gripping the earth with their tusks; the gods saw the show and laughed.
