मातलि का रथ लाना
The gods see the Lord on foot and are greatly troubled, and Indra sends his own chariot at once, which Mātali brings gladly. A heap of brightness, wonderful and divine, it is mounted by the king of Kosala; its four lovely, restless horses are ageless, deathless and as swift as thought. Seeing Raghunātha on a chariot, the monkeys, finding great strength, run forward. They are hard pressed, and Rāvaṇa spreads illusion. But the illusion only touches Raghubīra; Lakṣmaṇa and the monkeys believe it real. They see the night-ranger host, and the Lord of Kosala many times over, with his brother. Seeing many Rāmas and Lakṣmaṇas, the monkeys and bears are afraid and stand like figures in a picture, wherever they are. Seeing his army astonished, the Lord laughs, sets arrow to bow and removes the illusion in a moment, and the host of monkeys rejoices. Then Rāma, looking at all of them, says in a deep voice: 'See the single combats; the heroes are very tired.'देवताओं ने प्रभु को पैदल देखा तो उनके मन में बहुत क्षोभ उठा, और इन्द्र ने तुरंत अपना रथ भेजा, जिसे मातलि हर्ष के साथ ले आया। तेज का पुंज, अनुपम और दिव्य वह रथ था, जिस पर कोसलपुर के राजा हर्षित होकर चढ़े। उसके चार चंचल और मनोहर घोड़े अजर, अमर और मन के समान गति वाले थे। रघुनाथ को रथ पर बैठा देखकर वानर विशेष बल पाकर दौड़े। वानरों की मार राक्षसों से सही नहीं गई, तब रावण ने माया फैलाई। वह माया रघुवीर के लिए ही असर नहीं कर सकी; लक्ष्मण और वानरों ने उसे सच माना। वानरों ने राक्षसों की सेना देखी, और अनुज सहित कोसलराज राम को भी बहुत रूपों में। बहुत से राम और लक्ष्मण देखकर वानर-भालू मन में बहुत डरे, और चित्र में लिखे हुए की तरह जहाँ थे वहीं खड़े देखते रहे। अपनी सेना को चकित देखकर कोसलराज ने हँसकर धनुष पर बाण चढ़ाया और क्षण भर में माया हर ली, और वानरों की सब सेना हर्षित हुई। फिर राम ने सब पर दृष्टि डालकर गम्भीर वचन कहे: 'द्वंद्वयुद्ध देखो, वीर बहुत थक गए हैं।'

A heap of brightness, divine and unequalled, was that chariot; the king of Kosala gladly climbed in. Its four lovely horses were restless, ageless, deathless, and swift as the mind.

३3रथारूढ़ रघुनाथहि देखी। धाए कपि बलु पाइ बिसेषी ॥सही न जाइ कपिन्ह कै मारी। तब रावन माया बिस्तारी ॥

रघुनाथ को रथ पर बैठा देखकर वानरों ने विशेष बल पाया और दौड़े। राक्षसों से वानरों की मार सही नहीं गई, तब रावण ने माया फैलाई।
Seeing Raghunātha in the chariot, the monkeys got special strength and ran forward. The night-rangers could not bear the monkeys' blows, and then Rāvaṇa spread illusion.

४4सो माया रघुबीरहि बाँची। लछिमन कपिन्ह सो मानी साँची ॥देखी कपिन्ह निसाचर अनी। अनुज सहित बहु कोसलधनी ॥

वह माया केवल रघुवीर पर असर नहीं कर सकी; लक्ष्मण और वानरों ने उसे सच मान लिया। वानरों ने राक्षसों की सेना देखी, और भाई सहित कोसलराज राम को भी बहुत रूपों में।
That illusion held back only from Raghubīra; Lakṣmaṇa and the monkeys took it for true. The monkeys saw the night-ranger host, and the Lord of Kosala many times over, with his brother.

बहुत से राम और लक्ष्मण देखकर वानर-भालू मन में बहुत डर गए, और जैसे चित्र में लिखे हों, लक्ष्मण समेत जहाँ-के-तहाँ खड़े देखते रहे। अपनी सेना को चकित देखकर कोसलराज ने हँसकर धनुष पर बाण चढ़ाया और क्षण भर में माया हर ली; वानरों की सारी सेना हर्षित हो गई।
Seeing many Rāmas and Lakṣmaṇas, the monkeys and bears were very afraid, and stood where they were looking on, like figures in a painting. Seeing his army amazed, the king of Kosala smiled, set arrow to bow, and in an instant took away the illusion; the whole monkey host rejoiced.

दोहा ८९दोहा 89बहुरि राम सब तन चितइ बोले बचन गँभीर।द्वंदजुद्ध देखहु सकल श्रमित भए अति बीर ॥ ८९ ॥

फिर राम ने सब की ओर देखकर गम्भीर वाणी में कहा: 'द्वंद्व-युद्ध देखो; योद्धा बहुत थक गए हैं।'
Then Rāma looked at everyone and spoke in a deep voice: 'See the single combats; the warriors are very tired.'
