Seized by fear, the monkeys begin to run, though Umā says they will win in the end. Some ask where Aṅgada and Hanumān are, and where Nala, Nīla and mighty Dvivida. Hanumān hears that his own side is in distress, for at the west gate Meghanāda is fighting and the gate cannot be broken. Pavansuta grows very angry and roars like Time. He leaps on to the fort of Laṅkā and runs at Meghanāda with a hill in his hand. He breaks the chariot, kills the charioteer and kicks Meghanāda in the chest. The other charioteer sees him in distress and takes him quickly home in the chariot. In the dohā, Aṅgada hears that Hanumān has gone alone to the fort, and he too leaps up like play.भय से आतुर होकर वानर भागने लगे, यद्यपि उमा, आगे वे ही जीतेंगे। कोई कहता है अंगद और हनुमान कहाँ हैं, बलवान नल, नील और द्विविद कहाँ हैं। हनुमान ने अपने दल को व्याकुल सुना; वे पश्चिम द्वार पर थे, जहाँ मेघनाद लड़ रहा था और द्वार टूट नहीं रहा था, बड़ी कठिनाई थी। पवनपुत्र के मन में बहुत क्रोध आया और काल के समान योद्धा ने प्रबल गर्जना की। वे कूदकर लंका के गढ़ के ऊपर आ गए और पर्वत लेकर मेघनाद की ओर दौड़े। उन्होंने रथ तोड़ दिया, सारथी मार डाला और मेघनाद के हृदय में लात मारी। दूसरे सारथी ने उसे व्याकुल जानकर रथ में डाला और तुरन्त घर ले आया। दोहे में अंगद ने सुना कि पवनपुत्र अकेले गढ़ पर चले गए; रण में बाँके बालिपुत्र खेल की तरह उछलकर चढ़ गए।

भय से आतुर होकर वानर भागने लगे, यद्यपि उमा, आगे वे ही जीतने वाले थे। कोई कहता, 'अंगद और हनुमान कहाँ हैं? नल, नील और बलवान द्विविद कहाँ हैं?'
Seized with fear, the monkeys began to run, although, Umā, they were going to win later. Some said, 'Where are Aṅgada and Hanumān? Where are Nala, Nīla and mighty Dvivida?'

हनुमान ने सुना कि अपना दल व्याकुल है। वह बलवान पश्चिम द्वार पर थे, जहाँ मेघनाद लड़ रहा था, और द्वार टूट नहीं रहा था, बड़ी कठिनाई थी।
Hanumān heard that his own side was in distress. The strong one was at the west gate, where Meghanāda was fighting, and the gate could not be broken, a very hard task.

३3पवनतनय मन भा अति क्रोधा। गर्जेउ प्रबल काल सम जोधा ॥कूदि लंक गढ़ ऊपर आवा। गहि गिरि मेघनाद कहुँ धावा ॥

He smashed the chariot and killed the charioteer, and kicked Meghanāda in the chest. The second charioteer saw him in distress, put him in the chariot, and quickly brought him home.

दोहा ४३दोहा 43अंगद सुना पवनसुत गढ़ पर गयउ अकेल।रन बाँकुरा बालिसुत तरकि चढ़ेउ कपि खेल ॥ ४३ ॥

Aṅgada heard that Pavansuta had gone alone on to the fort. Vālī's son, brave in battle, leapt up like play.
