Chapter 92·Śiva adorned; the procession sets out·Verses 1–
Śambhu's attendants dress Śiva: they arrange his matted crown, put a snake as his crest, and make him wear snakes as earrings and bracelets, with ash on his body and a lion skin for cloth. The moon is on his brow, the Gaṅgā in his hair, three eyes, a snake as sacred thread, poison in his throat, and a garland of human heads on his chest. Such is the unlucky dress of the home of Śiva, the kind one. In his hands are the trident and the drum; he rides the bull and the music sounds. Seeing him, the goddesses smile, for there is no bride in the world fit for such a groom. Viṣṇu, Brahmā and the gods go up on their vehicles, but the gods' company, though splendid, does not suit the groom. Viṣṇu smiles and calls all the lords of the quarters: go separately, each with your own company.
