The sages tell the lord of mountains the whole story. Hearing of Kāma's burning he is very sad; then they tell of Rati's boon, and he is greatly pleased. Thinking over Śambhu's greatness, he respectfully calls the great sages, has a good day, star and hour worked out, and quickly has the wedding date written by the rules of the Veda. He hands the letter to the seven sages and, taking their feet, begs them to take it. They go and give the letter to Brahmā, and reading it he cannot contain his love. Brahmā reads the date aloud to all; the sages and gods are glad, flowers rain from the sky, instruments sound, and auspicious jars are set in all ten directions. The gods begin to decorate their many vehicles and chariots; good omens come and the nymphs sing.मुनियों ने जाकर गिरिपति को सब प्रसंग सुनाया। कामदेव के जलने की बात सुनकर उन्हें बहुत दुःख हुआ; फिर रति के वरदान की बात कही तो हिमवान् बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। शम्भु की प्रभुता हृदय में विचारकर उन्होंने आदर से श्रेष्ठ मुनियों को बुलाया, शुभ दिन, शुभ नक्षत्र और शुभ घड़ी का विचार करवाकर वेद-विधि से शीघ्र लग्न लिखवाया। वह पत्रिका उन्होंने सप्तर्षियों को दी और चरण पकड़कर विनती की। उन्होंने जाकर वह पाती ब्रह्मा को दी, जिसे पढ़ते हुए ब्रह्मा का प्रेम हृदय में समाता नहीं था। ब्रह्मा ने लग्न पढ़कर सबको सुनाया; सब मुनि और देवता हर्षित हुए, आकाश से फूल बरसे, बाजे बजे और दसों दिशाओं में मंगल कलश सजाए गए। सब देवता अपने-अपने वाहन और विमान सजाने लगे; शुभ शकुन होने लगे और अप्सराएँ गाने लगीं।

मुनियों ने गिरिपति को सारा प्रसंग सुनाया। कामदेव का जलना सुनकर वे बहुत दुःखी हुए। फिर रति को वरदान मिलने की बात कही तो हिमवान् बहुत प्रसन्न हुए।

हृदय में शम्भु की प्रभुता का विचार कर उन्होंने आदर से श्रेष्ठ मुनियों को बुलाया। शुभ दिन, शुभ नक्षत्र और शुभ घड़ी का विचार करवाकर वेद-विधि से शीघ्र लग्न लिखवाया।
Thinking in his heart of Śambhu's greatness, he respectfully called the best of sages. He had a good day, a good star and a good hour worked out, and quickly had the wedding date set down by the rules of the Veda.

३3पत्री सप्तरिषिन्ह सोइ दीन्ही। गहि पद बिनय हिमाचल कीन्ही ॥जाइ बिधिहि दीन्हि सो पाती। बाचत प्रीति न हृदयँ समाती ॥

वह पत्रिका उन्होंने सप्तर्षियों को दी और चरण पकड़कर विनती की। उन्होंने जाकर वह पाती ब्रह्मा को दी, और उसे पढ़ते हुए उनके हृदय में प्रेम समा नहीं रहा था।
He gave that letter to the seven sages, and holding their feet he pleaded with them. They went and gave the letter to Brahmā, and reading it, love could not be held in his heart.

Brahmā read out the date and told it to all. The sages and the whole host of gods were glad. Flowers rained from the sky, instruments sounded, and auspicious jars were set in all ten directions.

सब देवता अपने-अपने वाहन और अनेक प्रकार के विमान सजाने लगे। शुभ और कल्याणकारी शकुन होने लगे और अप्सराएँ गाने लगीं।
All the gods began to deck their vehicles and many kinds of chariots. Good and lucky omens appeared, and the apsarases sang.
