विष्णु वर रूप में
The sages say: even now take our word; we have thought of a good groom for you, very handsome, pure, kind and gentle, whose play the Vedas sing, free of faults, full of every virtue, Viṣṇu of Vaikuṇṭha. We will bring you such a husband. Hearing this Bhavānī laughs and says: you speak truly, but my stubbornness will not go, even if my body does. Even gold is from stone, and does not lose its nature when burned. I will not leave Nārada's word, whether the house stays or is ruined; I am not afraid. One who has no faith in the teacher's word will not easily win joy or success even in dreams. Mahādeva is a house of faults and Viṣṇu a treasure of virtues; but the mind that delights in someone wants only him.ऋषि कहते हैं: अब भी हमारी बात मानो; हमने तुम्हारे लिए अच्छा वर सोचा है, जो अति सुन्दर, पवित्र, सुखद और सुशील है, जिसकी लीला का यश वेद गाते हैं, जो दोषों से रहित और सब गुणों की राशि है, जो लक्ष्मीपति और वैकुण्ठ का वासी है। ऐसा वर हम तुम्हें लाकर मिला देंगे। यह सुनकर भवानी हँसकर बोलीं: आपने सत्य कहा कि इस पर्वत से उत्पन्न शरीर का हठ नहीं छूटता, चाहे शरीर छूट जाए। सोना भी पत्थर से ही होता है, जलाने पर भी अपना स्वभाव नहीं छोड़ता। मैं नारद की बात नहीं छोड़ूँगी; घर बसे या उजड़े, मुझे डर नहीं। जिसे गुरु के वचन पर विश्वास नहीं, उसे स्वप्न में भी सुख-सिद्धि सुगम नहीं। महादेव अवगुणों के घर हैं और विष्णु सब गुणों के धाम, पर जिसका मन जिसमें रम जाए, उसे उसी से काम है।

Free of faults, a heap of all virtues, the husband of Śrī, living in the city of Vaikuṇṭha: we will bring and join you with such a groom.' Hearing it, Bhavānī laughed and said:
satya kahehu giribhava tanu ehā haṭha na chūṭa chūṭai baru dehā |kanakau puni paṣāna teṃ hoī jārehum̐ sahaju na parihara soī ||

'आपने सत्य कहा कि पर्वत से उत्पन्न इस शरीर का हठ नहीं छूटता, चाहे शरीर छूट जाए। सोना भी पत्थर से ही होता है, जलाने पर भी वह अपना स्वभाव नहीं छोड़ता।
'You have spoken truly: this body, born of the mountain, will not give up its stubbornness, though the body itself may go. Gold also comes from stone, and does not lose its nature even when burned.

४4नारद बचन न मैं परिहरऊँ। बसउ भवनु उजरउ नहिं डरऊँ ॥गुर कें बचन प्रतीति न जेही। सपनेहुँ सुगम न सुख सिधि तेही ॥
