Satī reasons that if Viṣṇu took a man's body for the gods' sake, he would be all-knowing like the destroyer of Tripura and would not search for his wife like an ignorant man, though he is the abode of knowledge, Lakṣmī's lord and the enemy of the demons. Śambhu's words cannot be false, and all know Śiva is all-knowing. So a great doubt rose in her mind, and no understanding came into her heart. Though she did not say it, Hara, who knows all hearts, knew it. He says, 'Satī, hear: a woman's nature, but never hold such a doubt in the heart. He whose story Agastya sang, and whose devotion I told the sage, is my chosen god, Raghubīra, whom the steady sages always serve.' The chhand says the calm sages, yogis and perfected, with clean minds, meditate on him, and the Vedas, Purāṇas and Āgamas sing his fame, saying 'not this, not this'. That same Rāma, all-pervading Brahman, lord of the worlds and master of Māyā, came down, free of all but himself, for the good of his devotees, the jewel of the Raghus. The soraṭhā says that although Śiva said it many times, the teaching did not enter her heart, and he smiled and spoke, knowing Hari's power of illusion.सती सोचती हैं कि विष्णु ने देवताओं के हित के लिए मनुष्य का शरीर धारण किया है तो वे भी त्रिपुरारि की तरह सर्वज्ञ होंगे; ज्ञान के धाम, लक्ष्मी के पति और असुरों के शत्रु क्या अज्ञानी की तरह स्त्री को खोजेंगे? फिर शम्भु का वचन झूठा नहीं हो सकता, और शिव सर्वज्ञ हैं, यह सब जानते हैं। इस प्रकार मन में अपार संदेह हुआ और हृदय में बोध का प्रचार नहीं हुआ। यद्यपि भवानी ने प्रकट रूप में नहीं कहा, पर अन्तर्यामी हर सब जान गए। वे कहते हैं, 'हे सती, सुनो, तुम्हारा स्वभाव स्त्री का है; ऐसा संदेह कभी हृदय में न रखना। जिसकी कथा अगस्त्य ऋषि ने गाई, जिसकी भक्ति मैंने मुनि को सुनाई, वही मेरे इष्टदेव रघुवीर हैं, जिनकी सेवा सदा धीर मुनि करते हैं।' छन्द में कहा गया है कि धीर मुनि, योगी और सिद्ध निर्मल मन से जिनका ध्यान करते हैं, और वेद, पुराण और आगम 'नेति-नेति' कहकर जिनकी कीर्ति गाते हैं, वही राम व्यापक ब्रह्म, लोकों के स्वामी और माया के धनी, अपने भक्तों के हित में रघुकुलमणि के रूप में अवतरित हुए, जो स्वतंत्र और नित्य हैं। सोरठे में है कि शिव ने बहुत बार कहा, फिर भी उपदेश सती के हृदय में न बैठा, तब हरि की माया का बल जानकर महेश हँसकर बोले।
