Śiva says: if your mind has so much doubt, why not go and test him? I will sit under the banyan until you come back to me. As your great delusion and confusion go, do that with clear thought. With Śiva's leave Satī went, thinking, 'What shall I do?' Here Śambhu thought that Dakṣa's daughter would not fare well: even his word does not take away her doubt, and fate is against her. What Rāma has planned will happen; who would argue and spread branches? Saying so, he began repeating Hari's name, and Satī went where the Lord, home of joy, was. In the dohā she thought again and again, took the form of Sītā, and went ahead on the road by which the king of men would come.शिव कहते हैं कि यदि तुम्हारे मन में इतना संदेह है तो परीक्षा लेने क्यों नहीं जातीं? जब तक तुम मेरे पास लौटकर आओगी, तब तक मैं बट के नीचे बैठा हूँ। जिस प्रकार तुम्हारा भारी मोह और भ्रम दूर हो, वही यत्न विवेक से विचारकर करना। शिव की आज्ञा पाकर सती चलीं, विचार करती हुईं, 'भाई, क्या करूँ?' यहाँ शम्भु ने मन में अनुमान किया कि दक्ष की पुत्री का कल्याण नहीं है: मेरे कहने से भी संशय नहीं जाता, विधि विपरीत है, भलाई नहीं। जो राम ने रच रखा है वही होगा; तर्क करके शाखा कौन बढ़ाए? यह कहकर वे हरिनाम जपने लगे, और सती वहाँ गईं जहाँ सुख के धाम प्रभु थे। दोहे में सती ने बार-बार हृदय में विचार करके सीता का रूप धारण किया और उस मार्ग पर आगे होकर चलीं जिस पर नरभूप राम आ रहे थे।
