Chapter 34·The day of the telling·Verses 1–
Having put aside all doubt and set the dust of the guru's lotus feet on his head, the poet again joins his hands to all so that no blame falls on the telling. With respect he bows to Śiva and begins to tell Rāma's clean deeds. In the year 1631, with Hari's feet on his head, he begins. On the ninth, a Tuesday, in the month of Madhu, this story is shown in Ayodhyā. On the day when, as the Vedas tell, Rāma was born, all holy places come there. Demons, serpents, birds, men, sages and gods come and serve Raghunāyaka. Wise people make a great festival of the birth, and sing Rāma's lovely fame. In the dohā many good people bathe in the holy water of the Sarayū, and repeat Rāma's name with the dark, lovely body in their heart.
