देखि राम छबि अति अनुरागीं
Seeing Rāma, the women are overcome with love and fall at his feet again and again; shame is forgotten and love fills their hearts, a natural affection that cannot be told. They give the brothers oil-rubs and baths and feed them a meal of six tastes with great affection. Rāma, knowing the time is right, speaks in words full of goodness, affection and shyness: 'The king wishes to go to Avadh, and sent us here to take leave. Mothers, give us leave with glad hearts, and love us always as your children.' The women's quarters is grieved to hear it; the mothers-in-law cannot speak for love. They press the princesses to their hearts, entrust them to their husbands and beg earnestly. With a plea, Sītā is given to Rāma, and with folded hands the mother says again and again: 'I give myself for you, dear son, wise one; you know the state of everyone. Know Sītā as dear as life to her family, the people and to me and the king. Seeing her goodness and love, count her your own servant.' Hearing these words, the women's quarters were grieved, and the mothers-in-law, overcome with love, could not speak. They pressed all the princesses to their hearts, handed them to their husbands and begged very earnestly.
