Sītā's beauty cannot be told; the mind is small and the charm great. The guests see her coming, a heap of beauty, pure in every way. All bow in their minds to her, and Rāma, seeing her, is wholly fulfilled. Daśaratha with his sons is glad beyond words. The gods bow and rain flowers, the sages' blessings are the root of good, songs and drums make a great noise and the people are lost in love and joy. So Sītā comes to the pavilion, and the sages happily chant peace-verses. The family gurus of both houses perform all the rites of the hour. Gaurī, Gaṇeśa and the guru are worshipped, the gods appear in person to take their offerings, and servants keep ready the honey-mixture and every needed item in gold pots. The sun himself tells the family customs, and Sītā is given a lovely seat. As the sacred fire takes a body to receive the offerings, the Vedas, in Brahmin dress, give the marriage rites.

The Brahmins gladly had Gaurī, Gaṇeśa and the guru worshipped; the gods appeared in person, took the worship and gave blessings, finding great joy. Whatever honey-mixture or auspicious thing a sage wanted at any moment, attendants kept ready, all in gold trays and pots. The sun himself told the family customs with love, and all was done with respect. In this way the gods were worshipped, and Sītā was given a lovely throne. The loving look between Sītā and Rāma no one could make out; it is beyond mind, understanding and speech — how could a poet make it plain?
