The women are moon-faced and deer-eyed, and their beauty would take away Rati's pride. They wear clothes of many colours and every ornament, and all their limbs are dressed in good omens. They sing so sweetly that the cuckoo is ashamed, and their gait shames the elephant of Kāma. Instruments of all kinds sound in the sky and the city. Even Śacī, Sarasvatī, Ramā and Bhavānī, the pure and wise goddesses, take the disguise of ordinary women and mingle with the queens in the palace. They sing sweet songs, and in their joy no one notices them. Seeing the bridegroom, the root of bliss, every heart rejoices. What Sītā's mother feels on seeing Rāma in groom's dress could not be told by Sarasvatī and Śeṣa in a hundred thousand ages.सब स्त्रियाँ चन्द्रमुखी और मृगनयनी हैं, अपनी देह की शोभा से रति का गर्व हर लेती हैं। रंग-रंग के सुन्दर वस्त्र पहने हैं और शरीर पर सब आभूषण सजे हैं। सब अंगों में मंगल सजाए हैं और ऐसा गान करती हैं कि कोयल भी लजा जाए। कंकण, करधनी और नूपुर बजते हैं, उनकी चाल देखकर कामदेव के हाथी भी लजाते हैं। आकाश और नगर में तरह-तरह के बाजे बजते हैं। शची, सरस्वती, लक्ष्मी, पार्वती — जो पवित्र और स्वाभाविक रूप से चतुर देवांगनाएँ हैं — वे सब कपट से सुन्दर स्त्री-वेश बनाकर रनिवास में जा मिलीं। वे मधुर मंगल गान करती हैं, आनन्द में डूबे होने से कोई उन्हें पहचान नहीं पाता। आनन्द के कंद दूल्हे को देखकर सबके हृदय हर्षित हुए। जो सुख सीता की माता के मन को राम का वर-वेश देखकर हुआ, उसे सैकड़ों-हज़ारों कल्पों में भी सरस्वती और शेष नहीं कह सकते।

All were moon-faced and deer-eyed, and each, by the beauty of her own body, took away the pride of Rati. They wore garments of colour after colour, with every ornament on their bodies.

सब अंगों पर मंगल चिह्न सजाए वे ऐसा गाती थीं कि कोयल लजा जाए। कंकण, किंकिणी और नूपुर बज रहे थे और उनकी चाल देखकर कामदेव के हाथी भी लजाते थे।
Every limb was dressed with lucky signs, and they sang so that the cuckoo was shamed. Bracelets, girdle-bells and anklets rang, and seeing their walk, Kāma's elephants felt ashamed.

कौन जाने किस आनन्द के वश सब स्त्रियाँ ब्रह्म-रूप वर का परछन करने चलीं। मधुर गान, नगाड़े और देवताओं के बरसाए फूलों की शोभा सुन्दर थी। आनन्द के कंद दूल्हे को देखकर सबके हृदय हर्षित हो गए; नेत्र-कमलों में जल उमड़ आया और सुन्दर अंगों में रोमांच छा गया।
Who knows in what joy they all went to welcome Brahman as a groom? Sweet songs, drums and flowers from the gods made a lovely sight. Seeing the bridegroom, root of bliss, every heart was glad; eyes brimmed, and the limbs bristled with joy.
