सुरन्ह सुमंगल अवसरु जाना
The gods know the hour is auspicious, rain flowers and beat drums. Śiva, Brahmā and many other gods mount their aerial cars in crowds, thrilled with love, and go to see Rāma's wedding. Seeing Janakpur, they are so charmed that their own worlds seem small. They look amazed at the strange canopies and wonderful work, and at the city's men and women, treasures of beauty, skilled, dutiful, gentle and wise. Beside them the gods and goddesses seem like stars by moonlight, and Brahmā is greatly astonished, for none of his own handiwork looks like this. Śiva tells all the gods not to forget themselves in wonder, but to steady the heart and think of the wedding of Sītā and Raghubīra.देवताओं ने मंगल का अवसर जाना, नगाड़े बजाकर फूल बरसाए। शिव, ब्रह्मा आदि देवताओं के झुण्ड अनेक विमानों पर चढ़े। प्रेम से पुलकित शरीर और हृदय में उत्साह लिए वे राम का विवाह देखने चले। जनकपुर को देखकर सब देवता प्रेम में डूब गए; उन्हें अपने-अपने लोक छोटे लगे। विचित्र चँदोवे और अलौकिक रचनाओं को वे चकित होकर देखते हैं। नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष रूप के भंडार, सुघड़, धर्मात्मा, सुशील और चतुर हैं। उन्हें देखकर देवता और देवांगनाएँ ऐसे लगे मानो चन्द्रमा के उजाले में तारे हों। ब्रह्मा को भी बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ कि अपनी रचना में उन्हें ऐसा कहीं नहीं दिखा। तब शिव ने सब देवताओं को समझाया कि आश्चर्य में मत भूलो, धीरज धरकर सीता और रघुवीर के विवाह का विचार करो।

The gods knew it was a lucky hour and rained flowers, beating their drums. Śiva, Brahmā and the crowds of gods mounted their aerial cars in many companies.

२2प्रेम पुलक तन हृदयँ उछाहू। चले बिलोकन राम बिआहू ॥देखि जनकपुरु सुर अनुरागे। निज निज लोक सबहिं लघु लागे ॥

प्रेम से पुलकित शरीर और हृदय में उत्साह लिए वे राम का विवाह देखने चले। जनकपुर को देखकर देवता मोहित हो गए; उन्हें अपने सब लोक छोटे लगे।
With bodies thrilled with love and joy in their hearts, they went to see Rāma's wedding. Seeing Janakpur, the gods were smitten, and all their own worlds seemed small.

३3चितवहिं चकित बिचित्र बिताना। रचना सकल अलौकिक नाना ॥नगर नारि नर रूप निधाना। सुघर सुधरम सुसील सुजाना ॥

वे विचित्र चँदोवे और अनेक अलौकिक रचनाएँ चकित होकर देखते थे। नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष रूप के खज़ाने, सुघड़, धर्मशील, सुशील और चतुर थे।
They gazed in wonder at the strange canopies and the many unearthly works. The men and women of the city were treasures of beauty, skilled, dutiful, gentle and wise.

४4तिन्हहि देखि सब सुर सुरनारीं। भए नखत जनु बिधु उजिआरीं ॥बिधिहि भयह आचरजु बिसेषी। निज करनी कछु कतहुँ न देखी ॥

उन्हें देखकर सब देवता और देवांगनाएँ ऐसे हो गए जैसे चन्द्रमा के उजाले में तारे। ब्रह्मा को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ, क्योंकि अपनी रचना में उन्हें कहीं ऐसा नहीं दिखा।
Seeing them, all the gods and goddesses looked like stars in the light of the moon. Brahmā was especially astonished, for he saw nothing like this anywhere in his own making.

शिव ने सब देवताओं को समझाया — आश्चर्य में अपने को मत भूलो; धीरज धरकर हृदय में सीता और रघुवीर के विवाह का विचार करो।
Śiva calmed all the gods: 'Do not forget yourselves in wonder. Take heart and think of the wedding of Sītā and Raghubīra.'
