Janaka asks his priest what causes the delay, and Śatānanda calls the ministers, who bring all the auspicious things. Conches, drums and other instruments sound, and wives with husbands living sing while holy Brahmins chant the Vedas. They go respectfully to the lodging, where Daśaratha's company makes even Indra's seem small. 'The hour has come, please step forward,' they say, and the drums are struck. Asking his guru and doing the family rites, the king sets out with sages and holy men. Seeing Daśaratha's fortune and splendour, Brahmā and the gods praise him with a thousand mouths and feel their own births wasted.राजा जनक ने पुरोहित से पूछा कि अब देरी का क्या कारण है; तब शतानन्द ने मंत्रियों को बुलाया और वे सब मंगल सामग्री सजाकर ले आए। शंख, नगाड़े और ढोल बहुत बजे, मंगल कलश और शकुन की वस्तुएँ सजीं, सुहागिनें गीत गाती हैं और पवित्र ब्राह्मण वेद-ध्वनि करते हैं। इस तरह आदर से वे जनवासे गए, जहाँ कोसलराज का समाज देखकर इन्द्र भी बहुत छोटा लगा। 'समय हो गया, अब पग बढ़ाइए' — यह सुनकर नगाड़ों पर चोट पड़ी। गुरु से पूछकर और कुल की विधि करके राजा मुनियों और साधुओं के समाज के साथ चले। अवधनरेश का सौभाग्य और वैभव देखकर ब्रह्मा आदि देवता अपना जन्म व्यर्थ जानकर हज़ार मुखों से सराहने लगे।

Conch shells, drums and big drums sounded; auspicious pots and lucky things were set out. Happy married women sang songs, and pure Brahmins chanted the Vedas.

In this way, respectfully, they went to bring the groom's party and reached the lodging. Seeing the court of the king of Kosala, they found even Indra's court very small.
