Chapter 309·The procession sees Rāma·Verses 1–
The whole procession is cooled and comforted at the sight of Rāma, and no words can tell the way their love flows. The four sons sit beside the king like the four aims of life in bodily form. Seeing Daśaratha with his sons, the city's men and women are very happy; the gods strike drums and rain flowers, and heavenly dancers dance and sing. Śatānanda, the Brahmins, ministers, bards and praise-singers are honoured with the procession, then ask leave and the welcoming party returns. Because the procession came before the wedding hour, the city is filled with joy, and the people, tasting bliss, ask the Creator to lengthen the days and nights. The townspeople say to each other that Rāma and Sītā are the limit of beauty, and the two kings the limit of merit.
