Paraśurāma says Rāma's brother speaks bitterly with Rāma's consent and Rāma himself bows with deceit; let Rāma fight him or give up the name. He tells Rāma to drop the trick and fight, or he will kill him with his brother. As he rants with the axe raised, Rāma smiles inwardly and bows. Rāma says the fault was Lakṣmaṇa's yet the anger falls on them, and that straightness is sometimes a bigger fault: everyone bows to the crooked and Rāhu does not swallow the bent moon. He asks the lord of sages to give up his anger: here is his head before the axe; let him do whatever calms his anger and know Rāma for his follower. How can there be battle between lord and servant? The boy said something at the sight of his dress; he is not at fault.
