Chapter 268 · Paraśurāma arrives · Verses 1–

Seeing the uproar, the city women were distressed and all cursed the kings. At that moment, hearing Śiva's bow was broken, the sun of the Bhṛgu line's lotus came. The kings shrank like quail hiding from a swooping hawk. Ash lay on his fair body, and a broad tripuṇḍra on his forehead; matted hair on his head and a moon-like face, a little red with anger; brows curled, eyes red, though naturally he looked as if angry. He had a bull's shoulders, broad chest and arms, a lovely sacred thread, a garland and a deerskin. Sage's garments at his waist, two quivers tied, a bow and arrow in his hands, and a lovely axe on his shoulder. His dress was calm but his deeds were hard; as if the heroic sentiment had taken a sage's body and come where all the kings were.

Matted hair on his head, a lovely moon-like face a little reddened with anger; brows curled, eyes red with rage, though in nature he looked as if enraged even when calm.

His dress was peaceful but his deeds hard; his form cannot be told. As if the heroic sentiment had put on a sage's body and come where all the kings were.
