Chapter 231·Rāma speaks to Lakṣmaṇa·Verses 1–
Rāma tells Lakṣmaṇa that this is Janaka's daughter, for whose sake the bow sacrifice is held, brought by her friends to worship Gaurī and lighting up the garden as she moves. Seeing her unearthly beauty his naturally pure mind is stirred. The Creator knows the reason, and his auspicious limbs are throbbing. It is the natural way of the Raghus that their mind never sets foot on a wrong path, and he trusts his own mind, which has never looked at another man's wife even in a dream. Those whose backs enemies never see in battle, who never look at another's wife, and from whom no beggar hears a refusal are few in the world. While he speaks to his brother, his mind is lured by Sītā's beauty, drinking honey from her lotus face like a bee.
