गुरगृहँ गए पढ़न रघुराई
These simple childhood deeds are sung by Sarasvatī, Śeṣa, Śiva and the Vedas, and those whose minds do not love them were cheated by the Creator. When the brothers are young boys, the guru, father and mothers give them the sacred thread. Raghurāī goes to the guru's house to study, and in a short time all learning comes to him. He whose natural breath is the four Vedas studies: a great wonder. Skilled and humble, they play all the games of kings, with arrows and bows in their hands. In the streets where they walk all the men and women stand spellbound. To all in Kosala, old and young, Rāma is dearer than life.बाल-लीलाएँ अत्यंत सरल और सुंदर हैं; सरस्वती, शेष, शिव और वेदों ने इन्हें गाया है। जिनका मन इनसे प्रेम नहीं करता, उन्हें विधाता ने वंचित ही रखा। जब चारों भाई कुमार हुए तो गुरु, पिता और माताओं ने उन्हें जनेऊ दिया। रघुराई गुरु के घर पढ़ने गए और थोड़े ही समय में सारी विद्या आ गई। जिनका सहज श्वास चारों वेद हैं, वे हरि पढ़ते हैं — यह बड़ा कौतुक है। विद्या, विनय, निपुणता, गुण और शील से युक्त वे सब राजाओं के खेल खेलते हैं। हाथ में बाण और धनुष बहुत शोभा देते हैं, और रूप देखकर चर-अचर मोहित हो जाते हैं। जिन गलियों में भाई विहार करते हैं, वहाँ सब स्त्री-पुरुष थककर ठगे-से रह जाते हैं। कोसलपुर के सब स्त्री-पुरुष, बूढ़े और बालक, सबको कृपालु राम प्राणों से भी अधिक प्रिय लगते हैं।

With arrows in hand, their bows looked very handsome; seeing their form, all beings, moving and still, were charmed. In whatever streets the brothers walked, all the men and women stood still, spellbound.
