Hari plays many childhood games and gives great joy to his servants. After some time the brothers grow, and the guru performs the tonsure, with gifts for brahmins. The four tender boys go about doing charming, endless deeds. He who is beyond mind, deed and word wanders in Daśaratha's courtyard. When the king calls him to eat he will not leave his playmates. When Kausalyā goes to call him, he toddles away, and she chases the one whose end the Vedas and Śiva never found. He comes back covered in dust, and the king laughs and sits him on his lap.
