The king lay down as ordered, and the cheat sat down on his seat. The king was tired and fell asleep at once; but how could the cheat sleep with so much worry? The demon Kālaketu came there, who in the form of a boar had led the king astray. He was the ascetic's closest friend and knew all his deceit. He had a hundred sons and ten brothers, wicked and unbeatable, who troubled the gods. The king had killed them all in earlier battles, seeing the brahmins, saints and gods in sorrow. That wicked one remembered the old enmity, and he and the ascetic king took counsel together and made a plan by which the enemy would perish. But the king, led by fate, knew nothing. The poet adds: do not think an enemy small because he is mighty and alone; even now Rāhu, with only his head left, troubles the sun and the moon.
