The ascetic king saw his friend and rose, glad, and embraced him. He told his friend the whole story, and the demon, pleased, answered: 'Now, king, I have dealt with the enemy, if you did as I advised. Stop worrying. Providence has cured the sickness without medicine. I shall sweep your enemy away with his whole family and meet you on the fourth day.' Then the great cheat, in great anger, comforted the ascetic and left. In a moment Kālaketu took Bhānupratāpa, with his horse, to his house. He laid the king down beside his queen, and tied the horse in the stable, well arranged. Then he carried off the king's priest and, by his deceit, confusing the man's mind, hid him in a mountain cave. तपस्वी राजा अपने मित्र को देखकर उठा और प्रसन्न होकर मिला। उसने मित्र को सब कथा सुनाई; सुनकर राक्षस प्रसन्न हुआ और बोला, 'हे राजन्, अब मैंने शत्रु को साध लिया, यदि तुमने मेरे उपदेश के अनुसार किया है। चिन्ता छोड़ दो; विधाता ने बिना औषधि के रोग दूर कर दिया। मैं कुल समेत शत्रु को जड़ से बहा दूँगा और चौथे दिन आकर तुमसे मिलूँगा।' तब महाकपटी ने तपस्वी राजा को बहुत सन्तुष्ट किया और अति क्रोध में भरकर चला। उसने भानुप्रताप को घोड़े समेत क्षण भर में उसके घर पहुँचा दिया। राजा को रानी के पास सुलाया और घोड़े को घुड़साल में सजाकर बाँध दिया। फिर राजा के पुरोहित को उठा ले गया और माया से उसकी मति भ्रमित करके उसे पर्वत की गुफा में रख दिया।
