भरत लछिमन हनुमान
The poet bows to Janaka with his people, whose hidden love for Rāma's feet lay concealed in his life of yoga and pleasure and showed as soon as he saw Rāma. First he bows to Bharata, whose vows are beyond telling, and whose mind, like a greedy bee, never leaves Rāma's lotus feet. He bows to Lakṣmaṇa's feet, cool and fair, giver of joy to devotees, whose fame became the staff of the flag of Raghupati's clean glory. He is Śeṣa of a thousand heads, who took birth to remove the fear of the earth; may that mine of virtues, the son of Sumitrā, always be kind to him. He bows to Śatrughna, brave, gentle and Bharata's follower, and to the great hero Hanumān, whose fame Rāma himself told. I bow to Videha with his household, whose hidden love for Rāma's feet lay kept inside a life of yoga and pleasure, and showed itself the moment he saw Rāma.

First I bow to Bharata's feet, whose rule and vow cannot be told, and whose mind, like a greedy bee at Rāma's lotus feet, never leaves their side.

I bow to the lotus feet of Lakṣmaṇa, cool, lovely, and a giver of joy to devotees, whose fame became the staff of the white flag of Raghupati's glory.
