सत्यकेतु के पुत्र
'Listen, sage, to the holy old story that Śambhu told Girijā. In the world there is a famous land, Kekaya, where King Satyaketu lived. He was a pillar of dharma and a store of good rule, with splendour, glory, virtue and strength. He had two heroic sons, houses of every good quality and steady in battle. The elder, who would inherit the kingdom, was named Pratāpabhānu; the younger was Arimardana, whose strength was matchless and who never gave way in war. The two brothers were deeply fond of each other, their love free of every fault and deceit. The king gave the kingdom to the elder son and went to the forest for Hari's sake. When Pratāpabhānu became king, the call of his rule went through the land. He ruled the people with great care by the Vedas, and nowhere was there a trace of sin.'हे मुनि, वह पवित्र पुरानी कथा सुनो जो शंभु ने गिरिजा से कही थी। संसार में कैकय देश प्रसिद्ध है, वहाँ सत्यकेतु नाम का राजा रहता था। वह धर्म की धुरी सँभालने वाला और नीति का भंडार था, तेज, प्रताप, शील और बल वाला था। उसके दो वीर पुत्र हुए, जो सब गुणों के घर और बड़े रणधीर थे। जो बड़ा पुत्र राज्य का धनी था, उसका नाम प्रतापभानु था; दूसरे पुत्र का नाम अरिमर्दन था, जिसकी भुजाओं का बल अतुलनीय था और जो संग्राम में अटल रहता था। दोनों भाइयों में अत्यन्त प्रीति थी, सब दोष और छल से रहित। राजा ने बड़े पुत्र को राज्य दे दिया और स्वयं हरि के लिए वन को चले गए। जब प्रतापभानु राजा हुए, तब देश में उनकी दुहाई फिर गई। वे बहुत वेद-विधि से प्रजा का पालन करते थे, और कहीं पाप का लेश भी नहीं था।
