Chapter 134·The garland in the hall·Verses 1–
Nārada sat in the hall with growing pride in his form. Near him sat Śiva's two attendants, whom no one recognised in their brahmin dress. They spoke slyly so that Nārada could hear: 'Hari gave him lovely beauty. The princess will be pleased on seeing him and choose him, thinking he is Hari himself.' The sage's mind was lost in delusion, and the attendants laughed with pleasure. Though he heard the strange words, he did not understand them, his mind clouded by error. No one saw the special play; but the princess saw him in his true form, a monkey's face and terrible body, and anger came into her heart on seeing it. Then she went with her friends like a royal swan, a lotus garland in her hand, and moved around the hall as all the kings watched.

The sage's mind was lost in delusion, in another's hands; Śambhu's attendants laughed, very pleased. Though the sage heard their strange words, his mind, soaked in error, could not understand.
