'As a sick man craves the wrong food and the doctor does not give it, so I have set what is good for you.' With these words the Lord vanished. Bound by illusion, the sage did not understand Hari's deep words. The sage went quickly to the svayaṃvara ground. The kings sat in their seats with great show. The sage was glad: 'My beauty is very great; she will not be tempted by anyone else.' But for the sage's own good the merciful Lord had given him a form too ugly to describe, and no one noticed the play; they all thought it was Nārada and bowed to him. Two of Rudra's attendants were there who knew the whole secret; in the dress of brahmins they went about, highly amused, watching.'

'Listen, sage and yogi: a sick man hungry for the wrong food is not given it by the doctor. In the same way I have set what is good for you.' Saying this, the Lord vanished.
