हरि-कथा का महत्त्व
Even so you have raised the same doubt, for telling and hearing do good to all. Ears that have not heard the story of Hari are like snake holes; eyes that have not seen saints are like peacock-feather marks. Heads that do not bow at the feet of Hari or the guru are like bitter gourds. Those who have not brought devotion to Hari into their hearts are like corpses while alive. The tongue that does not sing Rāma's virtues is like a frog's tongue. The chest that is not gladdened by hearing of Hari is hard as a thunderbolt. Pārvatī, listen to Rāma's sports, which charm the demons for the gods' sake. The story of Rāma is like the cow of the gods, giving every joy to those who serve it. Who, knowing it to be a gathering of saints and the world of gods, would not listen?तब भी तुमने वही शंका की, क्योंकि कहने-सुनने से सबका हित होता है। जिन्होंने हरि-कथा कानों से नहीं सुनी, उनके कान साँप के बिल जैसे हैं। जिन आँखों ने संतों के दर्शन नहीं किए, वे मोर के पंख की आँखों जैसी हैं। जो सिर हरि और गुरु के चरणों में नहीं झुकता, वह कड़वी तुम्बी के समान है। जिन्होंने हृदय में हरि-भक्ति नहीं रखी, वे जीते हुए भी शव के समान हैं। जो जीभ राम के गुण नहीं गाती, वह मेंढक की जीभ जैसी है। वह छाती वज्र के समान कठोर है जो हरि-चरित सुनकर हर्षित नहीं होती। हे गिरिजा, राम की लीला सुनो; वह देवताओं के हित के लिए दानवों को मोहित करने वाली है। रामकथा कामधेनु के समान है, जो सेवा करने वालों को सब सुख देती है। सत्संग को देवलोक जानकर कौन उसे नहीं सुनेगा?

'तब भी तुमने वही शंका की, क्योंकि उसके कहने-सुनने में सबका हित होता है। जिन्होंने कानों से हरि की कथा नहीं सुनी, उनके कान साँप के बिल के समान हैं।
'Even so, you raised that same doubt, for in telling and hearing it, good comes to all. Ears that have never heard the story of Hari are like holes of snakes.

२2नयनन्हि संत दरस नहिं देखा। लोचन मोरपंख कर लेखा ॥ते सिर कटु तुंबरि समतूला। जे न नमत हरि गुर पद मूला ॥
nayananhi saṃta darasa nahiṃ dekhā locana morapaṃkha kara lekhā |te sira kaṭu tuṃbari samatūlā je na namata hari gura pada mūlā ||

जिन आँखों ने संतों के दर्शन नहीं किए, उन्हें मोर के पंख की आँखों के समान जानो। जो सिर हरि और गुरु के चरणों में नहीं झुकते, वे कड़वी तुम्बी के समान हैं।
Eyes that have not seen saints should be counted as the eye-marks on a peacock's feather. Heads that do not bow at the feet of Hari and the guru are like bitter gourds.

३3जिन्ह हरिभगति हृदयँ नहिं आनी। जीवत सव समान तेइ प्रानी ॥जो नहिं करइ राम गुन गाना। जीह सो दादुर जीह समाना ॥

४4कुलिस कठोर निठुर सोइ छाती। सुनि हरिचरित न जो हरषाती ॥गिरिजा सुनहु राम कै लीला। सुर हित दनुज बिमोहनसीला ॥

वह छाती वज्र के समान कठोर और निर्दय है जो हरि का चरित सुनकर हर्षित नहीं होती। हे गिरिजा, राम की लीला सुनो, जो देवताओं के हित के लिए दानवों को मोहित करती है।
That breast is hard as a thunderbolt which is not gladdened on hearing the deeds of Hari. Girijā, listen to the sport of Rāma, which charms the demons for the good of the gods.

दोहा ११३दोहा 113रामकथा सुरधेनु सम सेवत सब सुख दानि।सतसमाज सुरलोक सब को न सुनै अस जानि ॥ ११३ ॥
