Chapter 88·Guha comes to meet Rāma·Verses 1–दोहा 88
गुहँ निषाद
Guha, king of the Niṣādas, heard that Rāma had come, and gladly called his dear kinsmen. He took roots and fruits in baskets as a gift and went to meet him with great joy. He bowed full length, placed the gifts before Rāma, and looked on him with love. Rāma, overcome by Guha's natural love, asked how he was and made him sit near. Guha said: Lord, I am well since I have seen your lotus feet, and I count myself fortunate. The land, the wealth, the house are yours; I and my family are your servants. Come to my city, honour it with your feet, and let all my people be glad. Rāma said: dear and wise friend, my father has given me another command. For fourteen years I must live in the forest in a hermit's dress and food; it is not right to stay in a village. Hearing this, Guha was greatly grieved.निषादराज गुह ने जब यह सुधि पाई तो प्रसन्न होकर प्रिय बन्धुओं को बुलाया। उसने फल और मूल भर-भरकर भेंट ली और बड़े हर्ष से मिलने चला। दंडवत करके भेंट आगे रखी और प्रेम से प्रभु को देखता रहा। रघुनाथ सहज स्नेह के वश हो गए; उन्होंने कुशल पूछकर उसे पास बैठाया। गुह बोला: नाथ, आपके चरण-कमल देखकर मैं कुशल हूँ और अपने को भाग्यशाली मानता हूँ। धरती, धन और घर आपके हैं; मैं तो परिवार सहित नीच दास हूँ। कृपा करके नगर पधारिए, मेरे सब लोग आपको देखकर प्रसन्न हों। राम ने कहा: हे सुजान सखा, पिताजी ने मुझे दूसरी आज्ञा दी है: चौदह बरस वन में रहना है, मुनि का व्रत, वेश और भोजन रखना है; ग्राम में रहना उचित नहीं। यह सुनकर गुह को बहुत दुख हुआ।

निषाद गुह ने जब यह समाचार पाया तो प्रसन्न होकर अपने प्रिय बन्धुओं को बुलाया। वह फल और मूल की भेंट भर-भरकर ले चला; मिलने के लिए उसके हृदय में अपार हर्ष था।
When Guha the Niṣāda heard this news, he was glad and called his dear kinsmen. He took gifts of roots and fruit in loads, and went to meet Rāma with boundless joy in his heart.

२2करि दंडवत भेंट धरि आगें। प्रभुहि बिलोकत अति अनुरागें ॥सहज सनेह बिबस रघुराई। पूँछी कुसल निकट बैठाई ॥

उसने दंडवत करके भेंट आगे रखी और बड़े प्रेम से प्रभु को देखता रहा। रघुराई सहज स्नेह के वश होकर उसका कुशल पूछ पास बैठा लिया।
He bowed full length and placed the gifts before him, looking at the Lord with deep love. Raghurāī, overcome by his natural affection, asked how he was and made him sit near.

३3नाथ कुसल पद पंकज देखें। भयउँ भागभाजन जन लेखें ॥देव धरनि धनु धामु तुम्हारा। मैं जनु नीचु सहित परिवारा ॥

'नाथ, आपके चरण-कमल देखकर मैं कुशल हूँ; मैं भाग्यशाली जनों में गिना गया। यह धरती, धन और घर आपके हैं; मैं तो परिवार सहित आपका नीच दास हूँ।
'Lord, I am well, having seen your lotus feet; I have become a man of good fortune. The land, the wealth and the house are yours; I and my family are only your lowly servants.

Be kind, come to my city and set your feet there, so that all my people may be glad.' Rāma said: 'You are true, wise friend; my father gave me another command.

चौदह बरस मुझे वन में रहना है, मुनि का व्रत, वेश और भोजन रखना है। ग्राम में रहना उचित नहीं।' यह सुनकर गुह को बहुत दुख हुआ।
I am to live fourteen years in the forest, with a hermit's vow, dress and food. It is not right to live in a village.' Hearing this, Guha was deeply grieved.
