Sītā, the minister and the two brothers came to Śṛṅgaverapura. Rāma saw the river of the gods, got down and bowed to her in great joy. Lakṣmaṇa, the minister and Sītā also bowed, and Rāma was glad. The Gaṅgā is the source of all joy and goodness, giver of every pleasure and remover of every pain. Telling a thousand stories, Rāma watched her waves, and told the minister, his brother and his wife of the river's glory. He bathed, and the weariness of the road was gone; drinking her pure water, he was glad. Those whose very remembrance removes weariness, for him tiredness is only the way of the world. The dohā says he is pure, being, knowledge and joy, the root, the banner of the Sun's line, and does these deeds like a man, a bridge across the sea of rebirth.
