राम सिय सुख पावहीं
Sumitrā says the true mother of a son is the woman whose son loves Rāma; otherwise it is better to be childless. By Lakṣmaṇa's good fortune Rāma goes to the forest, and the greatest fruit of all good deeds is natural love for Rāma and Sītā. She tells him to keep anger, jealousy, pride and delusion away even in dreams, and to serve with mind, word and deed. In the forest he will want for nothing, with Rāma and Sītā as father and mother, and the thing to do is to see that Rāma has no trouble there. Then she blesses him that his love for Sītā and Rāma may grow without break. Lakṣmaṇa bows to his mother's feet and leaves at once, afraid in his heart that something might still stop him, like a deer breaking its snare.सुमित्रा कहती हैं कि पुत्रवती वही स्त्री है जिसका पुत्र रघुपति का भक्त हो; जिसका पुत्र राम से विमुख है उससे बाँझ रहना अच्छा। तुम्हारे ही भाग्य से राम वन जा रहे हैं, कोई और कारण नहीं। सब पुण्यों का सबसे बड़ा फल राम-सीता के चरणों में सहज स्नेह है। राग, रोष, ईर्ष्या, मद और मोह स्वप्न में भी न आने दो; मन, कर्म, वचन से सेवा करना। वन में तुम्हें सब सुख है, साथ में पिता-माता के रूप में राम-सीता हैं। वही करो जिससे राम को वन में कष्ट न हो। फिर आशीर्वाद देकर कहा कि सीता-राम के चरणों में तुम्हारी प्रीति नित नई बढ़ती रहे। लक्ष्मण माता के चरणों में सिर नवाकर तुरंत चल पड़े, मन में डरते हुए, जैसे मृग फंदा तोड़कर भागे।

'संसार में वही स्त्री पुत्रवती है जिसका पुत्र रघुपति का भक्त हो। नहीं तो बाँझ रहना अच्छा है; राम से विमुख पुत्र से भला क्या हित?
'She alone is a mother of sons in this world whose son is a devotee of Raghupati. Otherwise it is better to be childless than to have a son turned away from Rāma.

२2तुम्हरेहिं भाग रामु बन जाहीं। दूसर हेतु तात कछु नाहीं ॥सकल सुकृत कर बड़ फलु एहू। राम सीय पद सहज सनेहू ॥

तुम्हारे ही भाग्य से राम वन जा रहे हैं, बेटा, और कोई कारण नहीं। सब पुण्यों का सबसे बड़ा फल यही है: राम और सीता के चरणों में सहज स्नेह।
It is by your good fortune that Rāma goes to the forest; there is no other reason, my son. The greatest fruit of all good deeds is this: natural love for the feet of Rāma and Sītā.

३3राग रोषु इरिषा मदु मोहू। जनि सपनेहुँ इन्ह के बस होहू ॥सकल प्रकार बिकार बिहाई। मन क्रम बचन करेहु सेवकाई ॥

राग, रोष, ईर्ष्या, मद और मोह के वश में सपने में भी न होना। सब विकार छोड़कर मन, कर्म और वचन से सेवा करना।
Never let anger, rage, jealousy, pride or delusion rule you, even in dreams. Put away every fault, and serve in thought, word and deed.

४4तुम्ह कहुँ बन सब भाँति सुपासू। सँग पितु मातु रामु सिय जासू ॥जेहिं न रामु बन लहहिं कलेसू। सुत सोइ करेहु इहइ उपदेसू ॥

वन में तुम्हें हर प्रकार का सुख होगा, क्योंकि साथ में पिता और माता के रूप में राम और सीता हैं। बेटा, वही करना जिससे राम को वन में कष्ट न हो। यही मेरी सीख है।
In the forest you will have every comfort, with Rāma and Sītā as father and mother. Do what you must, son, so that Rāma has no trouble in the forest. This is my advice.

'मेरी सीख यही है कि राम और सीता सुख पाएँ। सीता और रघुवीर के चरणों में तुम्हारी प्रीति अटूट, निर्मल और नित नई होती रहे।' फिर माता ने आज्ञा दी।
'My advice is this, that Rāma and Sītā may be happy. Let your love for Sītā and Rāma, Raghubīr, be unbroken and pure, and new every day.' Then she gave him leave.

माता के चरणों में सिर नवाकर लक्ष्मण तुरंत चल पड़े, मन में डरे हुए, जैसे हिरन भयंकर फंदा तोड़कर भाग रहा हो।
Bowing his head at his mother's feet, Lakṣmaṇa left at once, anxious at heart, like a deer that has broken its terrible snare and runs for freedom.
