Think this over in your heart and give up your anger. Do not become a house of grief and blame. Surely give Bharata the post of heir, but what does Rāma have to do in the forest? Rāma is not hungry for kingship; he is the first in dharma and dry to the taste of the senses. Let him live at his guru's house, leaving home; take another boon from the king like that. If you do not heed our words, nothing will come into your hands. If it was said in jest, say so openly and make it known. A son like Rāma suits the forest? What will the people say of you? Rise quickly and find the means by which grief and stain are removed. As the day is without the sun, the body without life, and the night without the moon, so, says Tulasīdāsa, Ayodhyā is without the Lord; think of it, lady. The women gave their counsel, sweet in its end and good for her; but she paid no heed, taught by the crooked hunchback.
