Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa bow to the king and praise him with much humility, saying that out of kindness he has borne great pain in coming to the forest with his company. He asks the king to return to his city with his blessing, and the king, steadying himself, leaves. The sages, Brahmins and holy men are honored and sent off, as if Hari and Hara themselves. The two brothers go to their mothers-in-law, bow at their feet, receive their blessing and return. Kauśika, Vāmadeva, Jābāli, townsfolk, family and the good ministers: Rāma and his brother take leave of each with humble bows. Men and women, young, middle-aged and old are all honored and turned back by the merciful one.
