The gods' bad plan turned out good for everyone, since the hope of the term became like the life of their lives. Otherwise the separation from Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā would have killed the people with trembling grief, like a wasting disease. By Rāma's grace the obstruction was set right, and the gods' attack became a call for help that did good. As Rāma embraces Bharata, the juice of Rāma's love cannot be told. Body, mind and speech rise with love, and the steady leader loses his steadiness; his lotus eyes shed tears, and the assembly of gods is saddened. The sages and the guru, steady as Janaka, whose minds are tried in the fire of knowledge like gold, and whom Brahmā made unstained like lotus leaves in water, even they, seeing the peerless, boundless love of Raghubar and Bharata, are lost in mind, body and speech, with dispassion and reflection.

That evil trick turned out good for all: the hope of the term was like the life of their lives. Otherwise, with the parting from Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā, all the people would have died, trembling, of a terrible sickness.

By Rāma's grace the obstruction was set right; the gods' attack became a call for help that did good. Embracing Bharata in his arms — that taste of Rāma's love cannot be told.

Love surged in body, mind and speech, and the steady leader gave up his steadiness. His lotus eyes shed water, and seeing his state the assembly of gods was saddened.
