Chapter 315·The ruler is like the mouth·Verses 1–
Rāma tells Bharata that the guru and the king are worrying about the two of them and the family, at home and in the forest. With the guru, the sage and the lord of Mithilā over their heads, neither he nor Bharata need fear even the dream of trouble. Their highest aim, self-interest, fame, dharma and the highest good, is that the two brothers obey their father's command, since a king's good is good in the world and the Veda. By following the teaching of guru, father, mother and master, one's foot does not fall into a pit even on a bad road. Thinking so, Bharata should give up all worry and go to Ayodhyā for the term. Country, treasury, family and household rest on the guru's foot-dust. Following the sage, his mother and the ministers, he should protect the land, the people and the capital. A chief should be like the mouth, which takes food and drink in one place but with discernment feeds and nourishes all the limbs.
