Bharata says the townsfolk, kin and subjects are all pure and tender in love. With Rāma even the burning pain of worldly life is good, and without him the highest state is no use. The wise master knows everyone's liking, longing and way of life, and the protector of the humble will look after all and see them through on both sides. So Bharata has full trust in every way and, however he thinks, no great worry. His distress and the Lord's kindness together have made him forcibly bold. He asks Rāma to remove this great fault, give up reserve and teach his follower. Hearing the plea, all praise it, as a swan separates milk from water. Rāma, wise and a friend to the humble, answers his brother's guileless words in a way fit for the place, time and occasion.भरत कहते हैं कि नगरवासी, परिजन और प्रजा सब पवित्र हैं और स्नेह से सरस हैं। आपके साथ संसार का दुख-दाह भी भला है, और प्रभु के बिना परम पद का लाभ भी व्यर्थ है। सुजान स्वामी सबकी रुचि, लालसा और रहनी जानते हैं; शरणागतपालक सबका पालन करेंगे और दोनों ओर निर्वाह देंगे। इसलिए मुझे सब प्रकार बड़ा भरोसा है, विचार करने पर भी कोई गहरी चिन्ता नहीं। मेरी पीड़ा और नाथ की कृपा दोनों ने मिलकर मुझे हठ से ढीठ कर दिया। हे स्वामी, यह बड़ा दोष दूर कीजिए और संकोच छोड़कर अपने अनुगामी को सिखाइए। भरत की विनती सुनकर सबने सराहा, जैसे हंस दूध और पानी को अलग कर देता है। दीनबन्धु राम ने अपने भाई के दीन और छलहीन वचन सुनकर देश, काल और अवसर के अनुरूप कहा।
