Chapter 311·Bharata walks the forest·Verses 1–
Telling stories of dharma and old times, they enjoy the night until morning comes. Bharata and Śatrughna finish their daily rites and, with leave from Rāma, Atri and the guru, set out on foot with their company, all plainly dressed, to see the forest. Bharata's soft feet walk without sandals, and the ground, shy in its mind, grows soft. Kuśa grass, thorns, pebbles, hard pits and all things harsh and bitter hide themselves, and the path is made lovely and soft, with a breeze of three kinds of comfort. The gods rain flowers, clouds give shade, the trees flower and fruit, and the grass is soft. Deer look, birds speak sweetly, and all serve, knowing him dear to Rāma. Even the lowly find every attainment easy by yawning and saying "Rāma"; for Bharata, dear as life to Rāma, this is not a great thing.

Telling stories of dharma and history lovingly, morning came; the night passed in that joy. Finishing their daily rites, the two brothers Bharata and Śatrughna got leave from Rāma, Atri and the guru.

Every attainment is easy even for the lowly who say 'Rāma' while yawning. For Bharata, dear as life to Rāma, this is no great matter.
