Seeing Sītā in an ascetic's dress, Janaka feels both love and deep contentment. He tells her she has made both families holy and the world calls her fame white. Her fame, he says, has beaten the Gaṅgā and gone through crores of universes; the Gaṅgā made three places great, but she has made many companies of the holy. Sītā seems to melt into shyness at her father's loving words. Her father and mother hold her to the heart again and give her loving counsel and blessing. Sītā does not say it, but she is shy of staying the night there. Seeing this, the queen tells the king, who praises her nature in his heart.
