The king laughed and said: I know your meaning. You love to be angry. You never asked for your trust, and I forgot, with my simple nature. Do not blame me falsely: ask for four instead of two. The Raghus have always held to this: life may go, but a word must not. There is no pile of sin like untruth. Can crores of small gunja berries be as a mountain? Truth is the root of all good deeds, the Vedas and Purāṇas say, and I too sing it. On this I swear by Rāma, the ocean of kindness. Having made him firm, she spoke with a laugh: the king's wishes were a lovely forest full of happy birds, and she, a hunter-woman, wanted to scare them with a fearful hawk. She opened the cage of her evil thought.

The king said with a laugh: 'I understand your secret. It is your great love to be angry. You never asked for what you had put in trust, and I forgot, because my nature is simple.

On top of that I have sworn by Rāma, Raghurāi, the limit of merit and love.' Making him firm in his word, the evil-minded woman laughed and spoke, as if she had undone the hood of an evil-minded hawk.
