By Rāma's grace the hill Kāmadgiri removes sorrow at a glance, and its lakes, rivers, woods and land seem to overflow with joy and love. Creepers and trees are full of fruit and flowers, and birds, deer and bees call out in welcome. The forest is especially glad and the three kinds of breeze are pleasant for all, as if the earth were playing host to Janaka. All the people bathe and, with leave from Rāma, Janaka and the sage, settle under the fine trees. Leaves, fruit, roots and tubers of many kinds, pure and sweet as nectar, are sent to all by Rāma's guru, and after offerings to ancestors, gods, guests and guru, they eat the fruit meal.
