Chapter 236·Beasts at peace around Rāma's hill·Verses 1–
The forest region has many dwellings of sages, like cities, towns and villages. There are many wonderful birds and animals, a subject-company beyond telling. The rhinoceros, elephant, lion, tiger and boar, the buffalo and bull, give up enmity and graze together, like four-fold armies here and there. Waterfalls fall, rutting elephants roar, as if many kinds of drums were beating. Cakravākas, cakoras, cātakas, parrots and cuckoos call, and lovely swans cry gladly. Bees sing and peacocks dance, as if good rule brought blessing on every side. Creepers, trees and grass bear fruit and flowers; the whole company is a root of joy. Seeing the glory of Rāma's hill, Bharata's heart is full of love, like an ascetic who has got the fruit of austerity and is happy as his vows are fulfilled.
