Chapter 222·The village women speak of Bharata·Verses 1–
The women ask each other lovingly whether the two walkers are Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa. They have the same age, body, colour and form, and the same character, love and gait. But the dress is not the same, Sītā is not with them, and a four-fold army goes ahead. Their faces are not cheerful and their minds are full of sorrow; that is the doubt. The women accept the argument of one of them as the cleverest. Another woman praises her and tells them all that happened, how Rāma's joy of kingship was broken. She begins to praise Bharata, good-natured, loving and fortunate. Walking on foot and eating fruit, giving up the kingdom his father gave, he goes to win Raghubar back; who today is like Bharata?
