Bharata says that grief burns his chest every day. He has no hunger by day and no sleep by night, and he has searched the whole world for a cure for this evil disease and found none. His mother's evil counsel was the carpenter and root of sin; it made a chisel out of his good. From the bad wood of Kali she made a wicked machine, burying the term of years with a hard spell. For his sake she laid this plan and ruined the whole world. This evil conjunction will end only when Rāma returns; there is no other way for Ayodhyā to live. The sage is glad at his words and praises him. He tells him not to worry; all sorrow will end on seeing Rāma's feet. Consoling him, the sage asks him to be a guest and take roots, fruits and flowers.
