After staying on the bank of the Sai, the army sets out at dawn and comes near Śṛṅgaverapura. The Niṣādas hear the news, and Guha thinks sadly. He asks why Bharata is going to the forest and fears some guile is in his mind. If there were no crookedness, why would he take an army? He fears Bharata thinks to kill Rāma and his brother and rule happily without a thorn. Bharata has not brought policy into his mind: first disgrace, now loss of life. All gods and demons, all fighters, could gather and still not win against Rāma in battle. It is no wonder Bharata acts so: a poison creeper does not bear nectar fruit.
