Kausalyā takes courage and says that the guru's order is the right medicine, to be honoured and followed, with grief given up in view of the way of time. Raghupati is in the forest and the king in heaven; Bharata should not lose heart so. The family, the people, the ministers and all the mothers depend on him alone. Seeing that fate is against them and time is hard, he should take heart and obey the guru's order, protect the people and take away the household's sorrow. Bharata listens to the guru's words and the ministers' approval as sandalwood to his heart, and then to his mother's gentle voice full of goodness, love and simplicity. Hearing it he is overcome, tears streaming from his lotus eyes and watering the new shoots of parting in his heart. All forget their own bodies at the sight and praise this natural, boundless love. Then Bharata, the steadiest of the steady, folds his hands and gives a fitting answer to all in words that seem steeped in nectar.

Hearing his mother's words, steeped in simple feeling, Bharata was overcome. From his lotus eyes the tears flowed, watering the new shoots of parting in his heart. Seeing that state, everyone forgot the thought of their own bodies at that time, and all respectfully praised the very limit of natural love.
