पुनि आए जहँ मुनि सरभंगा
Rāma bows to Atri and goes into the forest, with Lakṣmaṇa behind and Sītā between the brothers, like Māyā between Brahman and the soul. Rivers, forests and hills give them way, and clouds shade them. On the road the demon Virādha meets them, and Rāma kills him at once. The demon takes on a lovely form and goes to the Lord's abode. मुनि के चरण-कमलों में सिर नवाकर देवताओं, मनुष्यों और मुनियों के स्वामी वन को चले। आगे राम थे और पीछे छोटा भाई, दोनों सुन्दर मुनि-वेश में।
Bowing his head at the sage's lotus feet, the lord of gods, men and sages set out for the forest. Rāma went in front, his younger brother behind, both in the dress of fine sages.

दोनों के बीच सीता ऐसी शोभित थीं जैसे ब्रह्म और जीव के बीच माया। नदी, वन, पर्वत और कठिन घाट अपने स्वामी को पहचानकर उन्हें अच्छा मार्ग देते थे।
Between the two, Sītā shone, like Māyā between Brahman and the soul. Rivers, forests, hills and hard passes knew their Lord and gave him a good road.

३3जहँ जहँ जाहि देव रघुराया। करहिं मेध तहँ तहँ नभ छाया ॥मिला असुर बिराध मग जाता। आवतहीं रघुवीर निपाता ॥

जहाँ जहाँ रघुराय जाते, वहाँ बादल आकाश में छाया करते। रास्ते में विराध राक्षस मिला और आते ही रघुवीर ने उसे मार गिराया।
Wherever the Lord of the Raghus went, the clouds made shade over him there. On the road the demon Virādha met them, and he was killed the moment he came.

४4तुरतहिं रुचिर रूप तेहिं पावा। देखि दुखी निज धाम पठावा ॥पुनि आए जहँ मुनि सरभंगा। सुंदर अनुज जानकी संगा ॥

उसे तुरन्त सुन्दर रूप मिला। उसे दुःखी देखकर प्रभु ने अपने धाम भेज दिया। फिर वे वहाँ आए जहाँ शरभंग मुनि थे; साथ में सुन्दर छोटे भाई और जानकी थीं।
At once he received a lovely form. Seeing him sad, the Lord sent him to his own abode. Then they came to where the sage Śarabhaṅga lived, with the handsome younger brother and Jānakī.

दोहा ७दोहा 7देखी राम मुख पंकज मुनिबर लोचन भृंग।सादर पान करत अति धन्य जन्म सरभंग ॥ ७ ॥

राम के मुख-कमल को श्रेष्ठ मुनि की आँखें भौंरे की तरह आदर से पी रही थीं। शरभंग का जन्म धन्य है।
