Rāma, seeing the lovely lake, bathes in it with great joy. Then he sits with his brother in the shade of a fine tree. All the gods and sages come, praise him and go home. The kind Lord sits very happy, telling his brother lovely stories. Nārada sees the Lord in the pain of parting and is sad. He remembers that Rāma suffers many sorrows because he accepted Nārada's curse. He thinks that he should see the Lord now, since such a chance will not come again. With his vīṇā he goes to where the Lord is sitting at ease. Singing Rāma's deeds in a soft voice, with love, Nārada falls at his feet; Rāma lifts him and holds him to his heart again and again. He asks about his welfare and makes him sit close, and Lakṣmaṇa washes his feet. Nārada prays in many ways, and when he knows the Lord is pleased, he speaks with folded hands.
