Dakshinamurti and Guru Gita as alternatives for guru pujan, and why the speaker prefers Datta
Asked which sadhana comes first, the speaker says a sadhak's first sadhana should be of the guru. The adi guru endowed with the guru tattva, in the form of the greatest Mahashakti, is Bhagavan Dattatreya; the second form endowed with it is Sadashiva as Dakshinamurti Shiva, who is unique in Tantra and has a place in the worship of any of the ten Mahavidyass. One may go for these forms too, but their vidhi-vidhan should be learnt from a qualified person; the Guru Gita may also be taken as a support for guru pujan. In his own view, since neither you nor he knows which tradition you will belong to later, the power that acts and guides most immediately for everyone is Datta, so take Datta's refuge and worship him.
Which guru stotras should be recited?
The second thing: after the guru, which stotra or stuti of the guru is to be done that is ordinary. There is the Guru Paduka Stotram — do its path. Or else do the path of the Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu stotra, and the dhyan mantra of the Guru Gita and the like.
Which Gita should one recite?
In the Guru Gita the importance of the guru has been told, the speaker says, so whosever Gita you recite, in it the importance of that devta's shakti has been told; therefore one should always recite the Gita relating to one's own ishta, so that our faith in them may increase more and more. Asked for a siddh mantra of Hinglaj Mata, he says he has not given her mantra publicly so far — he will tell it, let time come — because after a thing is told, how many people actually do it?
What does the Guru Gita say about the effect of a mantra anushthan on the body?
Bhagavan in the Dakshinamurti swaroop, who has been called the Vishwa Guru swaroop, the param guru of the entire brahmanda — he has said, and you will come to know it whenever you recite the Guru Gita, that whenever we are doing the mantra anushthan of any devi or devata, then whatever effect is falling on our body at that time, whatever is happening, a change will come in all of it. You have turned the direction of the energy and made it one-pointed; that energy was scattered, and when you do mantra japa it gathered in one place and began to move upon you.
