Combined Navratri jap of the Navdurga, the navgrah and the mothers of the grahas: purpose and who it is for
A nine-day remedy for those who do not know their kundali
The speaker says that if in the nine days of Navratri the nine grahas, the mothers of the nine grahas and the nine Durgas are worshipped together, many graha Doshas and yogas in the birth chart that affect life are pacified. Since even the smallest particle in the world is held to be a karaka of the Navagraha, the grahas must not be neglected; alongside one's Ishta Devata their puja should be done from time to time. Worshipping each graha separately is long and difficult, with its own vastra and vidhi, so he gives a simple nine-day vidhan for Navratri only that any sadhak or sadhika can do, meant especially for those who do not know their own janma kundali: by it alone, in nine days, whatever subtle graha dosha exists is pacified and the grahas' grace obtained. Done fully, he says, Jagadamba removes even the greatest calamity, and sufferings that were not otherwise going away are removed by this collective (samyak) pujan.
Navgrah mantras open to everyone: beej-and-naam mantras, with or without the yajnopavita
Without the sacred thread, beej mantras and no pranav
The speaker says Navagraha mantras exist in Tantrokta, pauranik and Sabar forms, and choosing among them is very difficult: one who wears the Yajnopavita may use all of them, while one who does not may jap the Bija Mantra-based mantras without the Pranav. For this reason the mantras he gives in this vidhan are all of the kind everyone can jap, mantras made of beej and naam, which woman or man, with or without the yajnopavita, may jap without any doubt or hesitation.
Starting the Navratri navgrah jap: Pratipada, kalash optional, morning best, after guru-Ganapati pujan and the Bhagavati path
Fits around a job, but the jap comes after the path
The speaker says the jap and pujan begin on the Pratipada of Navratri after Kalash sthapana, Akhand Jyot and so on; but one who does no akhand deep or kalash sthapana and only does puja-path can certainly still do this sadhana. It may be done morning or evening as one's business or job allows, though morning is best. The order on each day: first the kalash sthapana (on Pratipada) and the initial pujan, then guru and Ganesha pujan, then whatever path of Bhagavati one does, and only after that this jap. He says all the mantras (of the nine grahas, their mothers and Bhagavati) are put on one page on screen and will be given in the description or a PDF for copying.
One vastra for all nine days of the Navratri navgrah jap, whatever its colour
Colour-of-the-day clothing is useful but too costly
The speaker says that whether one wears red, yellow or white vastra in Navratri, it is not necessary to change clothing according to the colour of each day. Doing so is useful, but it would work out very expensive, so wear the same one vastra every day; colour is no difficulty.
Mala and yajnopavita rules for the navgrah and Navdurga jap
Rudraksha only, never a gemstone mala
The speaker says one who wears the Yajnopavita should put it on on the day of Pratipada; one who does not wear it need not worry. Every sadhak or sadhika must wear at least one Rudraksha Mala. For the jap itself a panchmukhi or navmukhi rudraksha mala is best, navmukhi especially, since with it the mantras of the nine grahas and nine Durgas can be japped easily. No gemstone mala of any kind is to be used in this jap; only and only a navmukhi or panchmukhi rudraksha mala.
Daily jap order of the Navratri navgrah vidhan: the day's Durga, nine malas of the day's graha, one of its mother
The graha mantra samput-ed between Durga and the mother
The speaker gives the daily order: after the initial pujan, one Mala of the guru mantra and one of the Ganesha mantra (if one japs other mantras too), then one mala of that day's Durga, then nine malas of that day's graha, then one mala of the graha's mother; the graha mantra is thus Samput-ed by Ma Durga and the mother, which he says makes it sharper in effect. All the jap is then surrendered into the left hand of Bhagwati Jagadamba Durga. Day one (Pratipada): Shailputri one mala, Surya Narayan nine, Mata Aditi one. Day two: brahmacharini, the Chandra graha, his mother Anusuya. Day three: Chandraghanta, the Mangal graha, Mata Bhumi (Prithvi Mata). Each day continues in the same pattern, the jap surrendered the same way.
The speaker says that on the morning of the PratipadaThe first tithi of a fortnight, on which navaratra anushthans begin. tithi, after one's initial pujan and so on, the puja of Surya Narayan is done that day. One japs the mool mantra of Surya Bhagwan as given in the PDF: nine Malas. Then one mala of the mantra of his mother, and one mala of the first Durga, Mata Shailputri. That is: nine malas of Surya Narayan, one mala of Mata Aditi, one mala of Bhagwati Shailputri. He then fixes the order. If you also jap other mantras, first jap one mala of the guru mantra and one mala of the Ganesha mantra. After that, one mala of the mantra of the first of the nine Durgas, Mata Shailputri. Then, on Pratipada, nine malas of the Surya graha among the nine grahas. Then one mala of his mother Aditi. Done this way, he says, the graha's mantra, Surya Narayan's mantra, becomes Samput-ed by Ma Durga and by his mother Aditi, and so becomes a mantra that gives sharp (tivra) effect. After that, all the jap is surrendered into the left hand of Bhagwati Jagadamba"Mother of the World" — an epithet of the Devi. Durga. With this, the work of Pratipada is complete. On the Dwitiya tithi, in exactly the same way, after the initial pujan and path one wishes to do: the guru mantra jap, the Ganapati mantra jap, then the jap of Bhagwati brahmacharini; after one mala of Brahmacharini, nine malas of the mantra of the Chandra graha, and then one mala of his mother AnusuyaThe wife of Sage Atri and mother of Dattatreya, renowned for her pativrata power.. Likewise on the Tritiya, after guru-Ganapati pujan: one mala of Mata Chandraghanta, then nine malas of the Mangal graha mantra, and after that one mala in the name of Mata Bhumi, that is, Prithvi Mata. Each day's jap is surrendered in the same way, and each day's jap goes on in this same sequence. (The remaining days are not spelled out; he says they follow the same order, and the mantras and pairings are in his PDF.)
Completing the Navratri navgrah vidhan: havan ahuti counts, kanya pujan on Navami, parana on Dashami
Five ahutis for guru and Ganapati, nine for every other mantra
The speaker says that when the nine days of jap are complete, a Havan is done on the last day, the Navami tithi; the basic havan vidhi has been given on his channel. Five Ahutis each go to guru and Ganesha; nine ahutis each from the separate mantras of the nine Durgas that were japped; nine each from every one of the nine graha mantras; and nine each in the names of the mothers of the nine grahas. On Navami one also does Kanya Pujan and so on, and then on the Dashami tithi the Paran.
Sadashiva, Bhairav and Hanuman must be worshipped alongside the Navratri navgrah jap
A lamp or a path each day, morning or evening
The speaker says that in all this pujan the worship of Bhagwan Sadashiva and of Bhairava and Hanuman ji is compulsory. It may be as little as lighting one Deepak in their names, or a path of the Hanuman Chalisa, the Shiv Panchakshar Stotra, the Rudrashtakam or the names of Bhairav ji, but it must be done. If it cannot be done in the morning, do it in the evening; these deities are not to be left out.
Daily ghee lamp at Tulsi so no rin dosha remains toward the giver of a vidhan
Only this much, and the effect is unfailing
For freedom from rin dosha, the speaker asks that every day one ghee Deepak be lit beside Bhagwati Tulsi, so that no rin dosha remains between the listener and those from whom this vidhi-vidhan has been taken. Do only this much, he says, so that no rin dosha remains and the effect of the sadhana is obtained beyond doubt.
