त्वं धाता सर्वजगतां (tvaṃ dhātā sarvajagatāṃ) — you are the sustainer of all worldsyou are the sustainer of all worlds·त्रातुमर्हसि नः प्रभो (trātumarhasi naḥ prabho) — you alone, O Lord, are able to save usyou alone, O Lord, are able to save us·त्वां विना कः समर्थोऽस्ति (tvāṃ vinā kaḥ samartho'sti) — without you, who is capablewithout you, who is capable·दुःखनाशे महेश्वर (duḥkhanāśe maheśvara) — of destroying sorrow, O Maheśvaraof destroying sorrow, O Maheśvara

इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्तेषां (ityākarṇya vacasteṣāṃ) — hearing these wordshearing these words·सुराणां नन्दिकेश्वरः (surāṇāṃ nandikeśvaraḥ) — of the gods, Nandikeśvaraof the gods, Nandikeśvara·कृपया परया युक्तो (kṛpayā parayā yukto) — filled with supreme compassionfilled with supreme compassion·विज्ञप्तुं शंभुमारभत् (vijñaptuṃ śaṃbhumārabhat) — began to petition Śambhubegan to petition Śambhu

विष्णवादयः सुरगणा मुनिसिद्धसंघास्त्वां (viṣṇavādayaḥ suragaṇā munisiddhasaṃghāstvāṃ) — Viṣṇu and the other hosts of gods, the sages and siddhasViṣṇu and the other hosts of gods, the sages and siddhas·द्रष्टुमेव सुरवर्य विशेषयन्ति (draṣṭumeva suravarya viśeṣayanti) — long especially just to see you, O best of godslong especially just to see you, O best of gods·कार्यार्थिनोऽसुरवरैः परिभर्त्स्यमानाः (kāryārthino'suravaraiḥ paribhartsyamānāḥ) — seeking help, tormented by the mighty demonsseeking help, tormented by the mighty demons·सम्यक् पराभवपदं परमं प्रपन्नाः (samyak parābhavapadaṃ paramaṃ prapannāḥ) — they have utterly fallen into the depths of defeatthey have utterly fallen into the depths of defeat

तस्मात्त्वया हि सर्वेश (tasmāttvayā hi sarveśa) — therefore, O lord of all, by youtherefore, O lord of all, by you·त्रातव्या मुनयः सुराः (trātavyā munayaḥ surāḥ) — the sages and gods must be savedthe sages and gods must be saved·दीनबंधुर्विशेषेण (dīnabaṃdhurviśeṣeṇa) — as friend of the wretched, above allas friend of the wretched, above all·त्वमुक्तो भक्तवत्सलः (tvamukto bhaktavatsalaḥ) — you are called dear to your devoteesyou are called dear to your devotees

एवं दयावता शंभुः (evaṃ dayāvatā śaṃbhur) — thus was compassionate Śambhuthus was compassionate Śambhu·विज्ञप्तो नंदिना भृशम् (vijñapto naṃdinā bhṛśam) — earnestly petitioned by Nandiearnestly petitioned by Nandi·शनैः शनैरुपरमद्ध्यानात् (śanaiḥ śanairuparamaddhyānād) — slowly, slowly he withdrew from meditationslowly, slowly he withdrew from meditation·उन्मील्य चाक्षिणी (unmīlya cākṣiṇī) — and opened his eyesand opened his eyes

इति श्रुत्वा वचः शम्भोः (iti śrutvā vacaḥ śambhoḥ) — hearing these words of Śambhuhearing these words of Śambhu·सर्वे देवा मुदान्विताः (sarve devā mudānvitāḥ) — all the gods, filled with joyall the gods, filled with joy·विष्णोर्विलोकयामासुः (viṣṇorvilokayāmāsur) — looked toward Viṣṇu'slooked toward Viṣṇu's·मुखं विज्ञप्तिहेतवे (mukhaṃ vijñaptihetave) — face, so that he might speak the petitionface, so that he might speak the petition

अथ विष्णुर्महाभक्तो (atha viṣṇurmahābhakto) — then Viṣṇu, greatly devotedthen Viṣṇu, greatly devoted·देवानां हितकारकः (devānāṃ hitakārakaḥ) — the benefactor of the godsthe benefactor of the gods·मदीरितमुवाचेदं (madīritamuvācedaṃ) — urged on by me, spokeurged on by me, spoke·सुरकार्यं महत्तमम् (surakāryaṃ mahattamam) — this greatest matter of the godsthis greatest matter of the gods

तारकेण कृतं शंभो (tārakeṇa kṛtaṃ śaṃbho) — O Śambhu, wrought by TārakaO Śambhu, wrought by Tāraka·देवानां परमाद्भुतम् (devānāṃ paramādbhutam) — a most astonishing thing upon the godsa most astonishing thing upon the gods·कष्टात्कष्टतरं देवा (kaṣṭātkaṣṭataraṃ devā) — in distress upon distress, the godsin distress upon distress, the gods·विज्ञप्तुं सर्व आगताः (vijñaptuṃ sarva āgatāḥ) — have all come to petition youhave all come to petition you

हे शंभो तव पुत्रेण (he śaṃbho tava putreṇa) — O Śambhu, by your sonO Śambhu, by your son·औरसेन हि भविष्यति (aurasena hi bhaviṣyati) — your own true-born one, it shall beyour own true-born one, it shall be·निहतस्तारको दैत्यो (nihatastārako daityo) — that the demon Tāraka is slainthat the demon Tāraka is slain·नान्यथा मम भाषितम् (nānyathā mama bhāṣitam) — not otherwise — this is my declarationnot otherwise — this is my declaration

विचार्येत्थं महादेव (vicāryetthaṃ mahādeva) — considering this, O Mahādevaconsidering this, O Mahādeva·कृपां कुरु नमोऽस्तु ते (kṛpāṃ kuru namo'stu te) — show mercy, salutation to youshow mercy, salutation to you·देवान्समुद्धर स्वामिन् (devānsamuddhara svāmin) — save the gods, O Lordsave the gods, O Lord·कष्टात्तारकनिर्मितात् (kaṣṭāttārakanirmitāt) — from the distress wrought by Tārakafrom the distress wrought by Tāraka

तस्मात्त्वया गिरिजा देव शंभो (tasmāttvayā girijā deva śaṃbho) — therefore, O God Śambhu, Girijātherefore, O God Śambhu, Girijā·ग्रहीतव्या पाणिना दक्षिणेन (grahītavyā pāṇinā dakṣiṇena) — must be taken by you with your right handmust be taken by you with your right hand·पाणिग्रहेणैव महानुभावां (pāṇigraheṇaiva mahānubhāvāṃ) — through marriage alone, make your own the great and noble onethrough marriage alone, make your own the great and noble one·दत्तां गिरीन्द्रेण च तां कुरुष्व (dattāṃ girīndreṇa ca tāṃ kuruṣva) — given by the lord of mountains — take hergiven by the lord of mountains — take her

विष्णोस्तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा (viṣṇostadvacanaṃ śrutvā) — hearing these words of Viṣṇuhearing these words of Viṣṇu·प्रसन्नो ह्यब्रवीच्छिवः (prasanno hyabravīcchivaḥ) — Śiva, pleased, spokeŚiva, pleased, spoke·दर्शयन् सद्गतिं तेषां (darśayan sadgatiṃ teṣāṃ) — showing the true way to themshowing the true way to them·सर्वेषां योगतत्परः (sarveṣāṃ yogatatparaḥ) — to all of them — he, intent on yogato all of them — he, intent on yoga

यदा मे स्वीकृता देवी (yadā me svīkṛtā devī) — when the goddess is accepted by mewhen the goddess is accepted by me·गिरिजा सर्वसुंदरी (girijā sarvasuṃdarī) — Girijā, all-beautifulGirijā, all-beautiful·तदा सर्वे सुरेन्द्राश्च (tadā sarve surendrāśca) — then all the lords of the godsthen all the lords of the gods·मुनयो ऋषयस्तदा (munayo ṛṣayastadā) — sages and seerssages and seers

सकामाश्च भविष्यंति (sakāmāśca bhaviṣyaṃti) — will become subject to desirewill become subject to desire·न क्षमाश्च परे पथि (na kṣamāśca pare pathi) — and no longer fit for the higher pathand no longer fit for the higher path·जीवयिष्यति दुर्गा सा (jīvayiṣyati durgā sā) — and Durgā will bring back to lifeand Durgā will bring back to life·पाणिग्रहणतः स्मरम् (pāṇigrahaṇataḥ smaram) — Smara, through that marriageSmara, through that marriage

मदनो हि मया दग्धः (madano hi mayā dagdhaḥ) — Madana indeed was burned by meMadana indeed was burned by me·सर्वेषां कार्यसिद्धये (sarveṣāṃ kāryasiddhaye) — for the accomplishment of everyone's purposefor the accomplishment of everyone's purpose·ब्रह्मणो वचनाद्विष्णो (brahmaṇo vacanādviṣṇo) — at Brahmā's word, O Viṣṇuat Brahmā's word, O Viṣṇu·नात्र कार्या विचारणा (nātra kāryā vicāraṇā) — no doubt need be entertained about thisno doubt need be entertained about this

एवं विमृश्य मनसा (evaṃ vimṛśya manasā) — thus having reflected in mindthus having reflected in mind·कार्याकार्यव्यवस्थितौ (kāryākāryavyavasthitau) — in this matter of what should and should not be donein this matter of what should and should not be done·सुधीः सर्वैश्च देवेन्द्र (sudhīḥ sarvaiśca devendra) — being wise, you and all, O lord of godsbeing wise, you and all, O lord of gods·हठं नो कर्तुमर्हसि (haṭhaṃ no kartumarhasi) — should not insist by forceshould not insist by force

दग्धे कामे मया विष्णो (dagdhe kāme mayā viṣṇo) — by burning Kāma, O Viṣṇu, Iby burning Kāma, O Viṣṇu, I·सुरकार्यं महत्कृतम् (surakāryaṃ mahatkṛtam) — accomplished a great task for the godsaccomplished a great task for the gods·सर्वे तिष्ठन्तु निष्कामा (sarve tiṣṭhantu niṣkāmā) — let all remain free of desirelet all remain free of desire·मया सह सुनिश्चितम् (mayā saha suniścitam) — resolved together with meresolved together with me

यथाहं च सुराः सर्वे (yathāhaṃ ca surāḥ sarve) — as I am, O gods, soas I am, O gods, so·तथा यूयमयत्नतः (tathā yūyamayatnataḥ) — shall you all be, without strainshall you all be, without strain·तपः परमसंयुक्ताः (tapaḥ paramasaṃyuktāḥ) — joined to the highest austerityjoined to the highest austerity·करिष्यध्वं सुदुष्करम् (kariṣyadhvaṃ suduṣkaram) — you shall accomplish what is most difficultyou shall accomplish what is most difficult

यूयं समाधिना तेन (yūyaṃ samādhinā tena) — by that same samādhi, O godsby that same samādhi, O gods·मदनेन विना सुराः (madanena vinā surāḥ) — without Madanawithout Madana·परमानंदसंयुक्ता (paramānaṃdasaṃyuktā) — joined to supreme blissjoined to supreme bliss·निर्विकारा भवंतु वै (nirvikārā bhavaṃtu vai) — become free of all changebecome free of all change

पुरावृत्तं स्मरकृतं (purāvṛttaṃ smarakṛtaṃ) — what happened before, wrought by Smarawhat happened before, wrought by Smara·विस्मृतं यद् विधे हरे (vismṛtaṃ yad vidhe hare) — and now forgotten, O Vidhi, O Hariand now forgotten, O Vidhi, O Hari·महेन्द्र मुनयो देवा (mahendra munayo devā) — O great Indra, sages, godsO great Indra, sages, gods·यत्तत्सर्वं विमृश्यताम् (yattatsarvaṃ vimṛśyatām) — let all of that be reconsideredlet all of that be reconsidered

महाधनुर्धरेणैव (mahādhanurdhareṇaiva) — by that very wielder of the great bowby that very wielder of the great bow·मदनेन हठात्सुराः (madanena haṭhātsurāḥ) — Madana, by force, O godsMadana, by force, O gods·सर्वेषां ध्यानविध्वंसः (sarveṣāṃ dhyānavidhvaṃsaḥ) — the meditation of allthe meditation of all·कृतस्तेन पुरामराः (kṛtastena purāmarāḥ) — was once destroyed by him, O immortalswas once destroyed by him, O immortals

कामो हि नरकायैव (kāmo hi narakāyaiva) — desire indeed leads only to helldesire indeed leads only to hell·तस्मात् क्रोधोऽभिजायते (tasmāt krodho'bhijāyate) — from it anger is bornfrom it anger is born·क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहो (krodhādbhavati saṃmoho) — from anger comes delusionfrom anger comes delusion·मोहाच्च भ्रंशते तपः (mohācca bhraṃśate tapaḥ) — and from delusion austerity falls awayand from delusion austerity falls away

कामक्रोधौ परित्याज्यौ (kāmakrodhau parityājyau) — desire and anger must be abandoneddesire and anger must be abandoned·भवद्भिः सुरसत्तमैः (bhavadbhiḥ surasattamaiḥ) — by you, O best of godsby you, O best of gods·सर्वैरेव च मन्तव्यं (sarvaireva ca mantavyaṃ) — and by all of you must be heededand by all of you must be heeded·मद्वाक्यं नान्यथा क्वचित् (madvākyaṃ nānyathā kvacit) — my word, never otherwisemy word, never otherwise

एवं विश्राव्य भगवान् (evaṃ viśrāvya bhagavān) — having thus spoken, the blessedhaving thus spoken, the blessed·महादेवो वृषध्वजः (mahādevo vṛṣadhvajaḥ) — Mahādeva, bearer of the bull-bannerMahādeva, bearer of the bull-banner·सुरान् प्रवाचयामास (surān pravācayāmāsa) — sent forth the godssent forth the gods·विधिविष्णू तथा मुनीन् (vidhiviṣṇū tathā munīn) — Vidhi and Viṣṇu, and the sagesVidhi and Viṣṇu, and the sages

तूष्णींभूतोऽभवच्छंभुः (tūṣṇīṃbhūto'bhavacchaṃbhur) — Śambhu became silentŚambhu became silent·ध्यानमाश्रित्य वै पुनः (dhyānamāśritya vai punaḥ) — taking refuge again in meditationtaking refuge again in meditation·आस्ते पुरा यथा स्थाणुः (āste purā yathā sthāṇur) — he remained still as a pillar as beforehe remained still as a pillar as before·गणैश्च परिवारितः (gaṇaiśca parivāritaḥ) — surrounded by his gaṇassurrounded by his gaṇas

स्वात्मानमात्मना शंभुः (svātmānamātmanā śaṃbhur) — Śambhu, by himselfŚambhu, by himself·आत्मन्येव व्यचिन्तयत् (ātmanyeva vyacintayat) — contemplated his own self within himselfcontemplated his own self within himself·निरंजनं निराभासं (niraṃjanaṃ nirābhāsaṃ) — stainless, without semblancestainless, without semblance·निर्विकारं निरामयम् (nirvikāraṃ nirāmayam) — changeless, free of afflictionchangeless, free of affliction

परात्परतरं नित्यं (parātparataraṃ nityaṃ) — higher than the highest, eternalhigher than the highest, eternal·निर्ममं निरवग्रहम् (nirmamaṃ niravagraham) — free of possessiveness, unrestrainedfree of possessiveness, unrestrained·शब्दातीतं निर्गुणं च (śabdātītaṃ nirguṇaṃ ca) — beyond speech, without qualitiesbeyond speech, without qualities·ज्ञानगम्यं परात्परम् (jñānagamyaṃ parātparam) — attainable through knowledge, supreme beyond the supremeattainable through knowledge, supreme beyond the supreme

एवं स्वरूपं परमं (evaṃ svarūpaṃ paramaṃ) — thus his own supreme naturethus his own supreme nature·चिन्तयन् ध्यानमास्थितः (cintayan dhyānamāsthitaḥ) — contemplating, fixed in meditationcontemplating, fixed in meditation·परमानंदसंमग्नो (paramānaṃdasaṃmagno) — immersed in supreme blissimmersed in supreme bliss·बभूव बहुसूतिकृत् (babhūva bahusūtikṛt) — he became — he, the creator of many creationshe became — he, the creator of many creations

ध्यानस्थितं च सर्वेशं (dhyānasthitaṃ ca sarveśaṃ) — seeing the lord of all fixed in meditationseeing the lord of all fixed in meditation·दृष्ट्वा सर्वे दिवौकसः (dṛṣṭvā sarve divaukasaḥ) — all the dwellers of heavenall the dwellers of heaven·हरिशक्रादयः सर्वे (hariśakrādayaḥ sarve) — Hari, Indra, and the restHari, Indra, and the rest·नंदिनं प्रोचुरानताः (naṃdinaṃ procurānatāḥ) — bowing, spoke to Nandibowing, spoke to Nandi

किं वयं करवामाद्य (kiṃ vayaṃ karavāmādya) — what shall we do nowwhat shall we do now·विरक्तो ध्यानमास्थितः (virakto dhyānamāsthitaḥ) — he, detached, is fixed in meditationhe, detached, is fixed in meditation·शंभुस्त्वं शंकरसखः (śaṃbhustvaṃ śaṃkarasakhaḥ) — you, Śambhu's friendyou, Śambhu's friend·सर्वज्ञः शुचिसेवकः (sarvajñaḥ śucisevakaḥ) — all-knowing, his pure servantall-knowing, his pure servant

केनोपायेन गिरिशः (kenopāyena giriśaḥ) — by what means, O lord of the gaṇasby what means, O lord of the gaṇas·प्रसन्नः स्याद्गणाधिप (prasannaḥ syādgaṇādhipa) — might Giriśa become pleasedmight Giriśa become pleased·तदुपायं समाचक्ष्व (tadupāyaṃ samācakṣva) — tell us that meanstell us that means·वयं त्वच्छरणं गताः (vayaṃ tvaccharaṇaṃ gatāḥ) — we have come to you for refugewe have come to you for refuge

इति विज्ञापितो देवैः (iti vijñāpito devair) — thus petitioned by the godsthus petitioned by the gods·मुने हर्यादिभिस्तदा (mune haryādibhistadā) — O sage, by Hari and the restO sage, by Hari and the rest·प्रत्युवाच सुरांस्तान्स (pratyuvāca surāṃstānsa) — replied to those godsreplied to those gods·नंदी शंभुप्रियो गणः (naṃdī śaṃbhupriyo gaṇaḥ) — Nandi, the gaṇa dear to ŚambhuNandi, the gaṇa dear to Śambhu

हे हरे हे विधे शक्र (he hare he vidhe śakra) — O Hari, O Vidhi, ŚakraO Hari, O Vidhi, Śakra·निर्जरा मुनयस्तथा (nirjarā munayastathā) — immortal gods, and sages tooimmortal gods, and sages too·शृणुध्वं वचनं मे हि (śṛṇudhvaṃ vacanaṃ me hi) — hear my wordhear my word·शिवसंतोषकारकम् (śivasaṃtoṣakārakam) — which will bring satisfaction to Śivawhich will bring satisfaction to Śiva

यदि वो हठ एवाद्य (yadi vo haṭha evādya) — if today your resolve is truly fixedif today your resolve is truly fixed·शिवदारपरिग्रहे (śivadāraparigrahe) — on Śiva's taking a wifeon Śiva's taking a wife·अतिदीनतया सर्वे (atidīnatayā sarve) — then all of you, with utmost humilitythen all of you, with utmost humility·सुनुतिं कुरुतादरात् (sunutiṃ kurutādarāt) — offer him fitting praise with reverenceoffer him fitting praise with reverence

भक्तेर्वश्यो महादेवो (bhaktervaśyo mahādevo) — Mahādeva is subject to devotionMahādeva is subject to devotion·न साधारणतः सुराः (na sādhāraṇataḥ surāḥ) — not to ordinary means, O godsnot to ordinary means, O gods·अकार्यमपि सद्भक्त्या (akāryamapi sadbhaktyā) — even what is not to be done, through true devotioneven what is not to be done, through true devotion·करोति परमेश्वरः (karoti parameśvaraḥ) — the supreme Lord will dothe supreme Lord will do

एवं कुरुत सर्वे हि (evaṃ kuruta sarve hi) — do thus, all of youdo thus, all of you·विधिविष्णुमुखाः सुराः (vidhiviṣṇumukhāḥ surāḥ) — gods headed by Vidhi and Viṣṇugods headed by Vidhi and Viṣṇu·यथागतेन मार्गेणान्यथा (yathāgatena mārgeṇānyathā) — otherwise, by the way you cameotherwise, by the way you came·गच्छत मा चिरम् (gacchata mā ciram) — go — do not delaygo — do not delay

देवदेव महादेव (devadeva mahādeva) — O god of gods, MahādevaO god of gods, Mahādeva·करुणासागर प्रभो (karuṇāsāgara prabho) — ocean of compassion, O Lordocean of compassion, O Lord·समुद्धर महाक्लेशात् (samuddhara mahākleśāt) — deliver us from this great afflictiondeliver us from this great affliction·त्राहि नः शरणागतान् (trāhi naḥ śaraṇāgatān) — save us who have taken refuge in yousave us who have taken refuge in you

इत्येवं बहुदीनोक्त्या (ityevaṃ bahudīnoktyā) — thus, with many humble wordsthus, with many humble words·तुष्टुवुः शंकरं सुराः (tuṣṭuvuḥ śaṃkaraṃ surāḥ) — the gods praised Śaṅkarathe gods praised Śaṅkara·रुरुदुः सुस्वरं सर्वे (ruruduḥ susvaraṃ sarve) — all of them wept aloudall of them wept aloud·प्रेमव्याकुलमानसाः (premavyākulamānasāḥ) — their minds overwhelmed with lovetheir minds overwhelmed with love

सर्वज्ञस्त्वं महेशान (sarvajñastvaṃ maheśāna) — you are all-knowing, O great lordyou are all-knowing, O great lord·त्वन्तर्याम्यखिलेश्वरः (tvantaryāmyakhileśvaraḥ) — you are the inner ruler, lord of allyou are the inner ruler, lord of all·किं न जानासि चित्तस्थं (kiṃ na jānāsi cittasthaṃ) — do you not know what is in our heartsdo you not know what is in our hearts·तथा वच्म्यपि शासनात् (tathā vacmyapi śāsanāt) — yet I shall speak it, as commandedyet I shall speak it, as commanded

शिवा सा जनिता शैलात् (śivā sā janitā śailāc) — Śivā was born from the mountainŚivā was born from the mountain·चदर्थं हि हिमालयात् (cadarthaṃ hi himālayāt) — for this very purpose, from Himālayafor this very purpose, from Himālaya·तस्यां त्वदुद्भवात्पुत्रात् (tasyāṃ tvadudbhavātputrāt) — only from a son born of you through heronly from a son born of you through her·तस्य मृत्युर्न चान्यथा (tasya mṛtyurna cānyathā) — will his death come, not otherwisewill his death come, not otherwise

इति दत्तो ब्रह्मणा हि (iti datto brahmaṇā hi) — this was the boon given by Brahmāthis was the boon given by Brahmā·तस्मै दैत्याय यद्वरः (tasmai daityāya yadvaraḥ) — to that demonto that demon·तदन्यस्मादमृत्युः स (tadanyasmādamṛtyuḥ sa) — safe from death by any other, hesafe from death by any other, he·बाधते निखिलं जगत् (bādhate nikhilaṃ jagat) — oppresses the entire worldoppresses the entire world

देवानां मे महोत्साहो (devānāṃ me mahotsāho) — of the gods and of mine, a great eagernessof the gods and of mine, a great eagerness·हृदये चास्ति शंकर (hṛdaye cāsti śaṃkara) — is in the heart, O Śaṅkarais in the heart, O Śaṅkara·विवाहं तव संद्रष्टुं (vivāhaṃ tava saṃdraṣṭuṃ) — to behold your marriageto behold your marriage·तत्त्वं कुरु यथोचितम् (tattvaṃ kuru yathocitam) — therefore do as is fittingtherefore do as is fitting

कुसंज्ञा बहवो लोके (kusaṃjñā bahavo loke) — many bad bonds are in this worldmany bad bonds are in this world·स्त्रीसंज्ञस्तत्र चाधिकः (strīsaṃjñastatra cādhikaḥ) — the bond named 'woman' is foremost among themthe bond named 'woman' is foremost among them·उद्धरेत्सकलैर्बन्धैः (uddharetsakalairbandhaiḥ) — one may free oneself from every other bondageone may free oneself from every other bondage·न स्त्रीसंज्ञात्प्रमुच्यते (na strīsaṃjñātpramucyate) — but from the bondage named 'woman' one is not releasedbut from the bondage named 'woman' one is not released

यद्यप्येवं हि जानामि (yadyapyevaṃ hi jānāmi) — although I know all this fully wellalthough I know all this fully well·सर्वं ज्ञानं विशेषतः (sarvaṃ jñānaṃ viśeṣataḥ) — in every particularin every particular·तथाप्यहं करिष्यामि (tathāpyahaṃ kariṣyāmi) — nevertheless I shall makenevertheless I shall make·प्रार्थनां सफलां च वः (prārthanāṃ saphalāṃ ca vaḥ) — your petition fruitfulyour petition fruitful

भक्ताधीनोऽहमेवास्मि (bhaktādhīno'hamevāsmi) — I am indeed subject to my devoteesI am indeed subject to my devotees·तद्वशात्सर्वकार्यकृत् (tadvaśātsarvakāryakṛt) — under their sway I do every deedunder their sway I do every deed·अयथोचितकर्ता हि (ayathocitakartā hi) — as the doer of what is otherwise unfittingas the doer of what is otherwise unfitting·प्रसिद्धो भुवनत्रये (prasiddho bhuvanatraye) — I am renowned in the three worldsI am renowned in the three worlds
